Hitman 3 PC Players Can Now Import Hitman 1 and 2 Levels at No Additional Cost

Hitman 3 PC players are now able to import levels from Hitman 1 and 2 at no additional cost if they already own either of the first two games of the World of Assassination Trilogy. Developer IO Interactive shared the news alongside a Location Importing Guide, noting that all players need to do to unlock these other levels is sign in to their IOI Account and make sure their platform accounts that own the games (i.e. Steam and The Epic Games Store) are linked as well. This has been an ongoing issue for PC players due to the fact that Hitman 3 is exclusive to The Epic Games Store. While the original Hitman is available on that digital storefront as well, Hitman 2 is still only on Steam. This meant there was no way to prove you owned Hitman 2 prior to this new import procedure. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/19/hitman-3-review"] IO Interactive shared a few important things to consider before you initiate this process, and they are as follows; Double check al

Twitch Replaced Metallica's BlizzCon Concert With Hilarious Non-Metal Music

While fans of Metallica were treated to a special performance by the band at the end of BlizzCon 2021's opening ceremony, those watching on the official Twitch Gaming channel were treated to the concert with the most non-heavy metal music imaginable in order to avoid a DMCA claim. Shortly after Metallica started playing, Twitch switched over to royalty-free music to avoid a DMCA takedown, which predictably led to a hilarious few moments that was captured by those like @Slasher on Twitter. the current state of Twitch: the official Twitch Gaming channel cut off the live Metallica concert to play 8bit folk music to avoid DMCA pic.twitter.com/sCn56So8Ee — Rod Breslau (@Slasher) February 19, 2021 It would appear that Twitch did not obtain the proper rights to allow the music to be played on its channel. Fortunately, the concert and its music played as expected on other Twitch channels like Blizzard's own and the official BlizzCon livestream on YouTube. DMCA takedowns have been a

Blizzard May One Day Let Alliance and Horde Play Together in World of Warcraft

For nearly two decades now (and long before that if you count its Warcraft predecessors), World of Warcraft has centered around a conflict between two factions: the Alliance and Horde. Never have the twain been able to meet to do content together cooperatively in the MMORPG...but Blizzard says that may one day change. In today's World of Warcraft Q&A at BlizzCon 2021 , panel moderator Scott Johnson asked a number of questions regarding the recent announcements of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' upcoming 9.1 patch to a panel of Blizzard developers including game director Ion Hazzikostas, touching on topics such as the recent cinematics and lore, character availability and transfer for The Burning Crusade Classic, and game balance. The discussion turned to the fact that some of the "realms," or servers in World of Warcraft have an exceedingly low population of either Alliance or Horde. And since players can only d

Dinosaur Planet: Playable Version of Rare's Cancelled N64 Game Leaks Online

Image
Rare's cancelled N64 game known as Dinosaur Planet, which ended up being repurposed into GameCube's Star Fox Adventures, has leaked online and is fully playable. Forest of Illusion on Twitter released the files to Dinosaur Planet and shared some screenshots of the game that featured Star Fox's Fox McCloud. Furthermore, while this version of Dinosaur Planet will not currently "run 100% perfectly on any emulator," Forest of Illusion states it will "work perfectly fine with flashcarts." Forest of Illusion purchased a disc from a private game collector in Sweden that had a build of Dinosaur Planet on it from December 1, 2000. It is said to be a late build of the game, and that it would "need some hacking to be fully playable to the end." Dinosaur Planet, as previously mentioned, became Star Fox Adventures and was released in 2002. In our review, we said "Star Fox Adventures arrives as a truly excellent 3D action-adventure for GameCube owne

Overwatch 2: 55 New Details Revealed at BlizzCon 2021

We know the game won't arrive in 2021, but director Jeff Kaplan and his team made clear just how much work had gone into the game so far, revealing that "Right now we can sit down and have a night of Overwatch 2." Overwatch 2 at Blizzcon 2021: The Big Jeff Kaplan Interview

Despite today's Overwatch 2 Behind-the-Scenes panel revealing a glut of new details about the game, there's still a  lot to discuss about Blizzard's shooter sequel. Thankfully, we managed to speak to exactly the right person about that – game director Jeff Kaplan. We discussed the game's lack of a release date, how connected it will be to the original Overwatch, the frustration of being seen not to be making a "real" sequel, the possibility of cross-play, and dived into lots of the panel's stranger new details – among many more topics. The interview below has been edited for length and clarity. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/19/overwatch-2-55-new-details"] IGN: I really enjoyed the presentation – there's a lot more new detail about the game in there than I went in expecting. A lot to dig into. Jeff Kaplan: I'm glad to hear that. We're really hoping the players just see a lot of stuff – and I think there's

Overwatch 2: Blizzard Aiming to Update Fans More Regularly After BlizzCon

Overwatch 2 game director Jeff Kaplan says the team will begin to get more communicative after BlizzCon 2021 – and adds they're already discussing releasing new information in March and April. Speaking to IGN in a lengthy Overwatch 2 interview , Kaplan explained that, "When we announced Overwatch 2, we were very explicit with the audience. I don't know if everybody remembered this but we literally said we're going dark, and we said we're going to talk about this at the next BlizzCon. I think part of what happened was the pandemic situation, the fact that there wasn't a BlizzCon in November 2020, and things got kind of pushed off until February – but we were very explicit. Like, 'Hey, we're not talking after this BlizzCon we just need to focus on the game.'" "Our strategy for after BlizzConline in February is to be more communicative. I don't know if I can officially commit to monthly updates on Overwatch 2, but we definitely want to be

Blizzard Will Offer Character Boosts, Clone Services For WoW: The Burning Crusade Classic

Blizzard is launching (well, re-launching, in a sense) its Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft Classic later this year, and it wants to make sure anyone who wants to can participate immediately -- even if they haven't done the hours and hours of grinding required in Classic to get a max level character. Speaking in an interview with IGN ahead of today's BlizzCon 2021 announcements, executive producer John Hight and lead software engineer Brian Birmingham confirmed that Blizzard would offer some way to boost characters to level 58 (the level at which players can access The Burning Crusade content in Outland) for those who wanted to jump right into Burning Crusade without going through all of Classic's content first -- though they weren't specific as to exactly how that boost would be obtained. Hight suggested that while The Burning Crusade would automatically be made available to anyone with a World of Warcraft subscription "one option will also be to be

The Burning Crusade Classic Will Have More Changes Than Original WoW Classic

When it released World of Warcraft: Classic, Blizzard's goal was to stay as true to the original World of Warcraft experience as was feasible. And while that's still true for Burning Crusade, they...might be loosening up just a  little. Speaking to IGN ahead of the announcement of The Burning Crusade Classic at BlizzCon 2021 today, lead software engineer Brian Birmingham said that the team was trying to be a touch more flexible with how they approached Burning Crusade, to both give players a broader experience, as well as a better-tuned one. "One of the things that we're trying to do is move just a little bit more off of what we used to call, 'No Changes,'" he said. "There was a big push in the community [with Classic] to make sure that we really were going to be true to the original. And I think we really did a good job of delivering on that with Classic. We do want to back off just a little bit [with Burning Crusade], and we're kind of calling

WoW Shadowlands' 9.1 Update Joins Its Distinct Covenant Storylines Back Together

Image
In World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, players get to choose to join one of four different Covenants, which dictates much of the storyline (and many of the characters) they interact with as they explore the world of the dead. But with patch 9.1, that's all about to change. Speaking to IGN ahead of BlizzCon 2021, senior game designer Jeremy Feasel and technical director Frank Kowalkowski said that Patch 9.1 sees players working to unite the four covenants, bringing them together as a collective army to launch a strike against the Jailer on his home turf: the Maw. Shadowlands patch 9.1, Chains of Domination, was revealed today at BlizzCon, and centers the lost city of Korthia -- which the Jailer grabs out of the Maw and smashes into the rest of the landmass players have explored so far. Much of Chains of Domination will take place in Korthia and the Maw at large, with new Covenant hubs in the Maw, ways to cleanse the Jailer's oppressive influence, and yes -- the ability to summon pla

Blizzard Arcade Collection of Enhanced Retro Classics Announced

Blizzard has announced the Blizzard Arcade Collection, a set of three enhanced editions of some of Blizzard’s earliest, pre-Warcraft games. The collection is available today on PC and consoles. The Blizzard Arcade Collection contains The Lost Vikings, Rock N Roll Racing, and Blackthorne. The collection provides these classic games in both their ‘Original Editions’ and newly enhanced ‘Definitive Editions’. The Original Editions of all three provide the games as they were when first published, but do include a few modern tweaks such as custom key mapping and the ability to rewind up to ten seconds. The Lost Vikings and Blackthorne also have a ‘Watch Mode’ that allows you to watch the game being played and then take control at any point. You can also save progress anywhere in these original editions. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/19/blizzard-arcade-collection"] The changes added for the Definitive Editions vary for each game. The Lost Vikings was originally

Hideo Kojima Is Writing a Book About His Creative Process

Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, Death Stranding, and noted cinephile is writing a book. The book, published by VIZ Media and titled “The Creative Gene,” is due out in Fall 2021 and focuses on exploring Kojima’s artistic influences and inspirations. Longtime fans of Kojima games will recognize the influence classic action cinema has had on the developer’s work. Kojima’s early career was focused on getting into film production before changing track to game development. The original Metal Gear on MSX was influenced heavily by The Great Escape, encouraging the player to avoid conflict and use stealth rather than go into battle guns blazing. Solid Snake, Metal Gear’s protagonist, is seen as a clear homage to Escape From New York’s Snake Plissken, even going so far as to give himself the alias Iroquois Plissken, among countless other cinematic tropes throughout Kojima's work. Valheim: How a 5-Person Team Created the Most Popular Game on Steam

Back in 1300CE, the highest recorded total of the Viking population was 500,000 people, according to Valheim developer Iron Gate Studios. As of this week – barely two weeks after its launch into early access – over three million people have already purchased the Norse-themed survival game on Steam. Last weekend more than 360,000 concurrent players were exploring Valheim at the exact same time, surpassing the all-time records of even Destiny 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5. It’s no exaggeration to say that Valheim might be the biggest indie game release in recent memory, and certainly ranks among the most successful of all-time – at least in terms of its opening month. But what, exactly, is Valheim’s secret? Is it the start of a new franchise or just another flash in the early access pan? [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/valheim-early-access-review"] You can read our full early access review of Valheim here . “We’ve been refreshing the sales report to get the latest numbe
