One of Tears of the Kingdoms Expert Builders Reveals Her Secrets

Tears of the Kingdom has been out for over a month now, and the community’s zest for building bizarre vehicles hasn’t slowed down. A quick peek into the r/HyruleEngineering subreddit just today reveals a whole host of planes , trains , and automobiles with various quirks ranging from using very few pieces of Zonai tech to having masses of lasers to decimate any enemies that wander by. And players just keep getting even more creative as more tricks are discovered. But for some, building anything this complex can seem daunting. As a player that only built when necessary to finish the game, the level of creativity needed to make, I don’t know, a “ death Beyblade ” seems completely out of reach. Fortunately, one of Tears of the Kingdom’s expert engineers is here to dispel my fears. You might have seen some of Zaytri’s builds around the internet, either on Twitter, TikTok , or elsewhere. Zaytri is a content creator who, back in May, was one of the first creators to stumble upon a metho

The Blood Knight Is Diablos First New Class Since the Crusader in 2014

Blizzard has revealed the Blood Knight, Diablo’s first new class in nearly a decade. But it’s not coming to the recently-released Diablo 4 - not yet anyway. Blizzard announced the Blood Knight launches in free-to-download mobile game Diablo Immortal on July 13. The Blood Knight is described as a mid-range class with hybrid attack options that are either melee or ranged depending on your proximity to the target. It’s a “vanquisher of vampires”, feeding on the life of its enemies, entrapping them in shadows, and specializing in the polearm weapon type. The Blood Knight is the first new Diablo class since the release of the Crusader for Diablo 3 in 2014. Of course, Diablo 4 players are already wondering which new class their game will get as DLC. Diablo 4 launched with five classes : the Barbarian, Necromancer, Druid, Rogue, and Sorcerer. Diablo 3 also launched with five classes: the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard. It went on to get the Crusader and Necroman

My Friendly Neighborhood Is a Hilarious Horror Game with Murderous Muppets

Like the deranged children’s programming provided by the Five Nights at Freddy’s and Chucky series before it, My Friendly Neighborhood takes everyone’s favorite childhood memories and converts them into a gruesome scenario where you’re fighting for your life. The result, at least based on my journey so far, is a highly entertaining pseudo-horror game filled with face-slapping goofball murderers and highly disturbing musical numbers. While it certainly leans much more heavily into silliness than it does horror, I’m quite enjoying the abundantly disturbing adventure so far. My Friendly Neighborhood answers the hilarious and completely unnecessary question: “What if Resident Evil took place on Sesame Street?”, and that Raccoon City inspiration is clear in everything from the shambling muppets to the grid-based briefcases used for inventory management. I even had a limited number of game saves and was forced to spend precious game tokens scavenged from levels to save my progress, or ris

Street Fighter 6 Sales Hit 2 Million Rashid Gameplay Revealed

Street Fighter 6 sales have increased to two million units in just over a month, Capcom has announced. Street Fighter 6 got off to a strong start with one million sold over launch weekend. Total sales for the Street Fighter franchise now top 50 million. Capcom said single-player features such as the World Tour story mode and the new Modern Control type were designed to appeal to a broad range of players, and have contributed to Street Fighter 6’s sales success. IGN’s Street Fighter 6 review returned a 9/10. We said: “Street Fighter 6 is the most feature-rich a Street Fighter has ever been at launch, but even beyond that, its roster of 18 characters is excellent, the new mechanics revitalize the one-on-one fighting formula, and it absolutely nails all of the little things that make for a stellar fighting game.” Street Fighter 6 still has a long way to go before it tops the sales of Street Fighter 5. That game has shifted over seven million copies in the seven years since its Fe

Gran Turismo 7s Quirkiest Mode Continues to Be a Missed Opportunity

Last week’s Update 1.35 for Gran Turismo 7 came with an unexpected bonus – the first expansion to the highly eccentric Music Rally mode since the game’s launch back in March 2022. With six new Music Rally events joining the initial half-dozen, the mode has now doubled in size. What’s unfortunate, however, is that the mode hasn’t really gotten any better. Music Rally, for those of you who haven’t played GT7, is essentially a series of distance trials challenging drivers to travel as far as possible before the associated song ends. You start with an allocation of beats, depending on the tempo of the song, and passing through checkpoints on track will keep them topped up until the music ends. It’s ultimately very straightforward. In the lead-up to GT7’s release, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi described Music Rally as a low-stakes mode geared towards beginners – particularly children – and designed to allow players to enjoy a relaxed drive to music. In reality, truly succeeding in M

Blizzard Pulls Diablo 4s 6 Uber Unique Items After Apparently Making Them Too Easy to Get

Blizzard has temporarily disabled Diablo 4’s six super rare unique items from the game to address a new issue with Helltide Chest drops. The July 6 release of update 1.0.4 added unique items to the Helltide Chest loot pool. Helltide Mystery Chests are special chests available from taking part in Helltide events. (For a more detailed look at the Mystery Chest locations check out our Interactive Map . You can filter Mystery Chest Locations at the bottom to clear some of the clutter.) The change was welcomed by players on the hunt for Diablo 4’s rarest items , such as the six super rare uniques currently in the game. Fans had complained about the miniscule chance to obtain them, with some comparing the drop rate to winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning. So the chance to obtain one super rare unique, however small, from a Helltide Chest gave players a clear, singular farming objective. However, Blizzard abruptly disabled the super rare uniques from dropping in-game enti

Sonic Co-Creator Yuji Naka Given Suspended Prison Sentence for Insider Trading

Yuji Naka, co-creator of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and former boss of Sonic Team at Sega, was given a suspended prison sentence for insider trading following a trial in Japan. According to IGN Japan , 57-year-old Naka was found guilty of violating Japan’s Financial Instruments and Exchange Act for insider trading in connection with the development of a game for publisher Square Enix. Following a trial held at the Tokyo District Court on July 7, 2023, Judge Madoka Hiruta issued a two-and-a-half year prison sentence, suspended for four years, as well as two fines of ¥2 million ($14,000 approx) and ¥170 million ($1.1 million approx). Naka was arrested in November for suspected insider trading relating to an investment made while working at Square Enix. He allegedly bought 10,000 shares in developer Aiming, at a value of around $20,000, ahead of the announcement of the Dragon Quest Tact mobile game in partnership with Square Enix. Insider trading is the buying and selling of s

Capcom Is Considering New Mega Man Games It Just Needs Some Ideas

Mega Man has a long and storied video game history. Even Capcom thinks so. In a recent shareholder's meeting, the publisher called the series "one of Capcom's historic franchises" and noted that it's "loved by fans." Since the departure of series designer Keiji Inafune, though, Mega Man's appearances have been few and far between, with the Blue Bomber last appearing in a mainline game in 2018, and Mega Man X's last major console outing being in 2005. But take heart, Mega Man fans. Capcom says that it's still thinking about the future of the series, and that also includes older favorites like Sengoku Basara and Onimusha. "We are considering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc," Capcom says. Capcom's comments follow the release of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, which has managed to surp

The Callisto Protocol Gets Hour-Long PlayStation Plus Game Trial

The Callisto Protocol is the latest game to join the PlayStation Plus trials program, granting subscribers unfettered access to Striking Point Studios' horror game for an hour before buying. It will be available, as usual, to subscribers of the most expensive $17.99 a month PlayStation Plus Premium tier , which grants trial access to a growing list of games including God of War: Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part I, and more. The Callisto Protocol’s 60 minute trial is relatively diminutive compared to the duration of other titles included in the program, but should still grant a prospective buyer valuable insight into the game. Following its somewhat rocky launch the action horror title has received a number of updates, bringing new aesthetic content, death animations, a permadeath mode , and a wave-based riot mode to the game . June 27 also saw the release of the Callisto Protocol’s Final Transmission DLC, which Striking Distance Studios billed as “the heart-pounding final chap

Ubisoft Reveals Educational History of Baghdad Feature For Assassins Creed Mirage

Ubisoft has announced a new History of Baghdad feature for Assassin’s Creed Mirage which will allow players to explore the historical realities of the city as they progress through the campaign. Unlike the educational Discovery modes featured in previous Assassin’s Creed games such as Origins , and Odyssey , The History of Baghdad content will not require the player to enter a separate mode of Mirage. Instead, the offering will be via an in-game codex as the player progresses through the story, in a similar vein to how Ubisoft imparted historical facts in earlier Assassin’s Creed titles. "From the start we had an ambitious premise: to help the players better understand the world of ninth-century Baghdad." "From the start we had an ambitious premise: to help the players better understand the world of ninth-century Baghdad, a world that is seldom represented in popular culture," explained historian Dr Raphaël Weyland , who is working on Mirage at Ubisoft Montre

Final Fantasy 16 Patch Addresses Motion Blur Complaints

Square Enix has listened to player complaints and included an option to turn off motion blur in Final Fantasy 16's first post-launch patch. Outlined on the Square Enix website, update 1.03 adds a Motion Blur Strength slider in the main menu, allowing players to increase or decrease the intensity of motion blur or turn it off altogether. This comes after several players found the visual effect — used for myriad reasons like giving a sense of speed, covering up a low framerate, or making in-game action seem smoother — to be nauseating . "Motion Blur Strength allows the player to adjust the strength of the motion blur effect when the character or camera is in motion," the patch notes read. "The default setting is the maximum of five. This can be lowered to reduce the strength of the motion blur effect, or set to zero to turn it off completely." A handful of other changes are coming in the patch, which is already available on PlayStation 5, including an increa

Naraka: Bladepoint Finally Launches on PS5 This Month

Naraka: Bladepoint comes out on PlayStation 5 on July 13 alongside a switch across all platforms to free-to-play. The mythical melee battle royale also gets a new mode, called Capture the Spirit Well, a new hero called Tessa, and a new Dual Halberd weapon. Cross-play across all platforms launches July 13, too. Naraka: Bladepoint, developed by 24 Entertainment and published by NetEase Games Montreal, launched on PC in August 2021 before Xbox Series X and S in June 2022. The new PS5 version launches just over a year later. NetEase said Naraka: Bladepoint has now crossed the 20 million unique player mark. It’s a regular in Steam’s top 100 played games by concurrents list. At the time of publication, Naraka: Bladepoint was the 17th most-played game on Steam with just shy of 60,000 concurrents. Grand Theft Auto V Returns to Xbox Game Pass Today

Microsoft has announced that Grand Theft Auto V returns to Xbox Game Pass starting today, July 5. In an Xbox Wire post , Microsoft announced the next slate of games hitting its Game Pass subscription service, with Grand Theft Auto V headlining. Rockstar's critically-acclaimed open-world game is available on the console version of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming. This marks the third time Grand Theft Auto V has released on Microsoft's game subscription service after debuting initially in April 2020 . It was removed roughly a month later and replaced with Red Dead Redemption 2 . The fifth mainline Grand Theft Auto then returned to the service in April 2021 with support for Xbox Cloud Gaming, before it was removed for the second time in August of that year . In our 10/10 review of Grand Theft Auto V's single-player story , IGN said "Grand Theft Auto V is not only a preposterously enjoyable video game, but also an intelligent and sharp-tongued satire of contemp

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin The First Hands-On Preview

I've been nerding out over Warhammer Fantasy and 40K since before I could drive, but my relationship with Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop's most recent plane-hopping, epic fantasy spinoff has been mostly at arm's length. Realms of Ruin is an upcoming RTS that reached out a gleaming, armored fist to pull me in a bit closer. And the fact that it looks a lot like Dawn of War, aka one of my favorite RTS series of all time, made me all the more eager to reach out and grab it. If you're not up to speed on what exactly Age of Sigmar is, I'll do my best to break it down for you quickly. The world of Warhammer Fantasy, the one we see in the Total War: Warhammer games, was completely destroyed when the ravening forces of Chaos finally won in a divisive story arc called The End Times. But not all was lost, as many key characters survived and the setting was reborn as it is in Realms of Ruin: humans, dwarfs, and orcs, mostly renamed to something Games Workshop can legally copy

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Player Harnesses the Power of Perpetual Flight

A The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has harnessed the power of a handy glitch to create the game’s first perpetual flying machine, which makes use of zero batteries or despawning parts. Following the release of Tears of the Kingdom, the Zelda community has watched in awe as the most creative-minded have bent Link’s newfound Ultrahand building ability to their will in order to create technological marvels that would make Purah herself turn green with envy. So far the Ultrahand arms race has given rise to the creation of fully functional Gundams, tanks , classic cars , and some of the most questionable stick men you’ll ever see. However, many of these creations come with one major drawback: they are prone to burst into nothingness the moment their zonite components exceed their all too short shelf lives, or be rendered useless when Link’s batteries run dry. This is one of the craziest creations in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 🤯 No battery perpetual f

Someone Complained to Ad Standards That a Diablo 4 Billboard Reminded Them of the Hell of Lockdown

Advertising standards officials have dismissed a complaint about a Diablo 4 “Welcome to Hell” billboard displayed in Melbourne. The unnamed complainant contacted the Australian Ad Standards Community Panel to say the billboard “brought back memories of the hell of the two years of lockdowns in Melbourne”. The person also accused the advert of causing offense to Christians and Catholics, and “promoting evil and satanic paraphernalia”. lol someone complained to Ad Standards that the Diablo ad reminded them of lockdown?? pic.twitter.com/osqdpLYcms — Josh Taylor (@joshgnosis) July 4, 2023 “The words 'welcome to Hell Melbourne' as part of the advertisement for this game and a picture of a devil are offensive to me as a Christian,” reads the complaint. “The imagery is also inappropriate for my children to see and has already given them nightmares. Metroid Prime Remastered Gets a Massive Price Drop in the UK

We gave Metroid Prime Remastered a resounding 10/10 masterpiece rating in our review, and the game deserves all the plaudits. It's a wonderful remaster for Nintendo Switch, and well worth picking up if you're a big fan of the Metroid series. Not only that, but the game has gotten an impressive price drop in the UK recently, coming down to just £21.99 at several retailers . It's not like the game cost a ton at RRP either (£34.99), as Nintendo was seemingly quite sensible with its chosen price for the remaster. That being said, at £22, this is an absolute steal and a must-buy for Switch owners. We're expecting more great gaming deals during Prime Day 2023 next week , but this is kicking things off in style. Other great deals you might want to consider right now include Xbox Seagate Expansion Card for its all-time low price of £139, Star Wars Jedi Survivor for just £48 , and Elden Ring for just £36 . More Great Deals in the UK Amazon Prime Day is coming up soon

Are Diablo 4 Players Okay?

Diablo 4 has been out for a month now, and as players work their way through the campaign or the endgame with characters either at or approaching the level cap, the community is digging into the detail of how Blizzard’s action role-playing game actually works. But there are some rabbit holes players perhaps need not go down. This week, some Diablo 4 players convinced themselves the game’s rats lead players to better loot. In a sort of reverse Pied Piper situation, redditor zerger45 took to the Diablo 4 sub to declare : “FOLLOW THE RATS.” “Okay this is going to sound really bizarre, but you need to follow the rats for good loot,” zerger45 claimed in the post, which has 8,400 upvotes. “Don’t follow the predetermined path in any dungeon, instead, just follow the rats. The rats smell the cheese! I’m telling you it’s real and I feel like I’m crazy but I found multiple legendaries doing this within a span of maybe 10 minutes. The rats will tell you which pack of enemies to kill, and the
