Elden Ring Player Beats Every Boss Without Taking a Hit

The seemingly unthinkable has happened: An Elden Ring player has defeated every single boss without taking a single hit. The accomplishment was achieved by Twitch streamer and Elden Ring challenge runner GinoMachino . We did it. World’s First Elden Ring All Bosses No Hit Run has been completed. Thanks to everyone who was there for it including the legendary no hit runners @OtzdarvaYT and @OGSquilla What a moment. https://t.co/WiLQWu1SW8 pic.twitter.com/t5XAFDGoT7 — GinoMachino (@GinoMachino) October 26, 2022 There are 165 bosses in FromSoftware's Elden Ring, ranging from some of the easier bosses in Limgrave, to the infamously difficult ones, like Malenia . GinoMachino took two months to plan out the route for the no-hit run, before finally completing the challenge on October 25 . It's worth pointing out that this is a true no-hit run, meaning if GinoMachino got even a single scratch from any boss, he had to start the entire game over from the start. GinoMachino

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Won't Let PC and Xbox Players Disable Crossplay

Those playing the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox and PC have realized that they can’t disable crossplay with other platforms. However, PlayStation players do have this option. PC lacks the function entirely, while the only way for Xbox players to disable crossplay right now is to do so on the console itself. While this guarantees that you’ll only be playing with other Xbox players, it will apply to all games, not just Modern Warfare 2. PlayStation 4 and 5 players are simply able to toggle whether they’d like to crossplay with other platforms or not. Unfortunately, Xbox and PC players are stuck with each other until Activision Blizzard puts out an update to enable this function for them. Whether the developer chooses to is another matter, as this isn't a totally new issue: even Call of Duty: Warzone functions similarly on Xbox . While the crossplay toggle is there for the platform, the game pops up a notice requiring the player to enable crossplay as soon as the

Bayonetta 3: Voice Actors Detail Their Pay, Workload, and the Dangerous Race to the Bottom

Almost exactly five years since the longest actor's strike in US history came to a close , video game voice actors are in the spotlight once again. Back in 2017, it was about voice actors refusing to work with publishers like Activision and Take-Two over fair payment concerns. Now, a fiery controversy surrounding Nintendo and Platinum's upcoming Bayonetta 3 has reignited the debate over fair pay for voice actors in the video game industry. It all started over a week ago, when former Bayonetta voice actor Hellena Taylor released a thread of videos on Twitter claiming she was offered only $4,000 in total to reprise the role for Platinum and Nintendo's upcoming Bayonetta 3. In addition, Taylor asked fans to boycott the game and instead donate the money they would have spent on it to charity. In the middle of the ensuing social media firestorm, a conversation surrounding voice actor wages in the video game industry started to develop, with some actors sharing their accoun

Forspoken Developers Explain Magical Parkour Abilities

Square Enix has explained the eight different magical parkour abilities in Forspoken that allow the player to speed, scale, and soar around the world of Athia. Detailed in a PlayStation Blog post, the different skills won't all be unlocked from the beginning, but protagonist Frey will likely accrue them fairly quickly as developer Luminous Productions appears to be focusing greatly on traversal. Flow is the most basic of the parkour abilities and seemingly the first that Frey will learn. It lets the player sprint through the map at great speeds, jumping over any objects that get in the way like small rocks or walls. It does require stamina, however, but the Rush ability acts as a workaround here as it allows Frey to maintain her top speeds without draining her energy. Orange flames will occasionally appear around the character, and pressing Circle at this moment causes Frey to burst forward even faster without using stamina. Chaining traversal abilities together like this

The 10 Raddest Games We Saw During MIX Next

You want games? Good news. Today, we got new looks at an absolute deluge of games via the MIX Next event, combined with a Publisher Spotlight event and Black Voices in Gaming. Between the three, we saw somewhere close to 100 games - if you haven't seen the entire presentation, give it a look, as there's likely something in there to appeal to every taste, genre, and fanbase. For our part, there were ten games that really stood out between the three presentations, and we opted to highlight them below. If you're just looking for a quick, broad look at some of the truly standout stuff from the last few hours, look no further. Here are our ten favorite games from MIX Next 2022: Paper Cut Mansion One of the most instantaneously striking games from this entire showcase was Paper Cut Mansion, a haunted house roguelite. You play as a detective named Toby exploring the house to gather evidence to solve a mystery, fighting off enemies in top-down combat with permadeath and solvi

The Outlast Trials: First Level Preview

Something’s in the air lately, and it clearly isn’t love. No, this is the unmasked stench of death at the hands of the nefarious Murkoff Corporation – which fans of the Outlast series may remember as the same entity that thoroughly mismanaged Outlast 1’s Mount Massive Asylum and erected Outlast 2’s creepy radio towers. The dastardly experiments continue in The Outlast Trials, a first-person horror survival sim that – and I’m putting this lightly – finds all the best ways to unsettle you. I had an extremely tense experience playing the tutorial and the first level on an ultrawide monitor in a dark room, but if you don’t want to go it alone, you can now bring up to three friends with you in a series first. Thus, Trials is potentially the next great co-op horror survival game. The first two Outlast games revolved around the unfolding story of an investigative journalist uncovering a dark mystery, but in this Cold War-era prequel, you play as a prisoner vying for your life in a Squid Ga

Sega Confirms Rieko Kodama Has Died After Fans Spot Tribute

Rieko Kodama, the pioneering developer behind Sega classics including Phantasy Star and Skies of Arcadia, has died. She was 59. The rumors after a memorial message to Kodama was spotted in the credits of Mega Drive Mini 2. Asked whether the message was indeed intended to indicate that Kodama had died, Sega producer Yosuke Oskunari said that she had. Finally, the staff credits include a memorial message for Rieko Kodama. She started as an artist on games such as Alex Kidd In Miracle World, Phantasy Star and Sonic The Hedgehog, and was the producer for Skies Of Arcadia, 7th Dragon and most recently the Switch Sega Ages games. pic.twitter.com/v6xk8oUNYO — Nick Thorpe (@HKT3030) October 26, 2022 "As you understand it," Okunari wrote. "We respected her." Sega subsequently confirmed that Kodama died in May, but was unable to share any further details out of respect for the privacy of her family. Infinity Ward Reveals the Modern Warfare 2 Launch Changes Made After Beta

Infinity Ward has laid out some changes that have been made to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in response to feedback from the game’s beta ahead of its launch later this week. In a post on the studio’s website , the team broke down several change categories, including audio, UI, and movement. Most of these changes came from feedback on the multiplayer, but will also be applicable to the story campaign, as well. The full list of changes reads as follows: Enemy Visibility We have added diamond icons above the heads of enemies. This should make it easier for players to clearly identify opponents in the game. Additionally, we’ve continued to tweak lighting and contrast for improved enemy visibility. Audio We’ve shortened the overall range of footstep audio which will allow enemy players to get closer to targets before they are able to detect footsteps. We have also continued to tweak teammate footstep audio, which will now be quieter following feedback from the Beta. The in-wo

Fallout 4 Goes Next-Gen and the Future of Fallout – Unlocked 567

No, George R.R. Martin Hasn't Played Elden Ring

Despite George R.R. Martin's involvement with Elden Ring, the author revealed he has not played FromSoftware's latest epic for himself. Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert , which was spotted by GamesRadar , Martin explained why. "I have not played it because people seem to want this Winds of Winters book," Martin said. "And I have, unfortunately, a totally addictive personality. I did play video games a long, long time ago. I played games like Railroad Tycoon, and Master of Orion, and Homeworld and I would get sucked into it, and weeks, months would go by and I'd be sitting there in my red flannel bathrobe just like, 'one more game, one more game,' and [finally I went], 'I can't, I gotta go cold turkey on this, this is gonna kill me here.'" Martin went on to praise the team at FromSoftware, calling Elden Ring "the most beautiful game I have ever seen. It's really amazing, and amazingly detailed, and the peop

Meta is Losing Billions on the Metaverse, And It's Not Getting Better

Facebook and Quest company Meta is currently getting raked over the coals by investors, due to yet another quarter of massive losses in its VR and metaverse division. The company's quarterly earnings revealed that its Reality Labs division — which covers its VR and XR efforts as well as metaverse endeavors — saw $3.7 billion in losses from operations. But while this was an exceptionally large loss for the division, it's coming off a long history of losses going back quarter after quarter. That same division has seen losses of $9.4 billion so far this year, compared to $6.9 billion in the same period last year. Notably, though, this doesn't seem to be directly tied to a massive drop in revenue. Overall company revenue was $29 billion for the quarter, down only 4% year over year. But revenue for the Reality Labs segment alone was only $285 million, meaning Facebook's "Family of Apps" division (which deals with Facebook, Snapchat, and the like) largely carri

The Xbox Adaptive Controller Was Almost Canceled Before Teams Across Microsoft Rebelled

Microsoft’s Xbox Adaptive Controller almost didn’t make the cut into production, but it sounds like teams from across the company intervened to see that the project received its funding. In an interview with The Verge , Microsoft corporate vice president of Windows and devices Robin Seiler revealed the Xbox Adaptive Controller was once “on the cut list,” and at risk of losing funding. The controller initially began as an employee-driven effort to improve accessibility options, seeing its first iterations at company hack-a-thons. According to Seiler, employees across the Xbox and Surface teams saved the project, leading to collaboration between global divisions determined to “make it happen.” Seiler says that when faced with budgeting woes, the teams maintained, “No this is actually important for the world. This isn’t about revenue or brand positioning; it’s just important for people to be able to play games if they want to.” Microsoft employees go on to describe a culture shift

Callisto Protocol Director Takes Responsibility for Crunching Staff

Callisto Protocol director Glen has addressed his tweet where he proudly celebrated his team crunching towards the finish line on The Callisto Protocol. The director now says it was his fault for putting the team through crunch. In September, Schofield in a now-deleted Tweet said he was proud of his team working "6-7 days a week" and after hours in order to finish The Callisto Protocol, a new survival horror game from the studio. "The truth is, I messed up," Schofield says in an interview with Inverse . "We're a small-ish team and we were so good about it through the entire development, but at the end I messed up and we worked more than we should have. That one got away from us," Schofield admits. The director also says that the backlash that followed his September tweet was "educational' and that he hopes it will serve as a "catalyst for change overall." Much has been written about the practice of crunch in the video game in

CD Projekt Red Announces a Remake of The Witcher in Unreal Engine 5

CD Projekt Red has announced that it will remake The Witcher in Unreal Engine 5, alongside developer Fool's Theory. This is one of the five new games the company announced earlier this month, and previously went by the codename Canis Majoris. As part of its announcement, the company cautioned: "We want to do this right, so please be patient — it's gonna be a while until we can share more details." We're thrilled to reveal that, together with @Fools_Theory , we're working on remaking The Witcher using Unreal Engine 5 (codename: Canis Majoris)! Bayonetta 3 Review

I hold the Bayonetta series’ combat in such high esteem that I’d consider it in the top five or so combat systems of all time, right next to the Devil May Cry , God of War , Ninja Gaiden , and Batman Arkham games . It’s just incredible to look at, feels equally amazing to play, and is jam packed with opportunities for style and creativity thanks to the wide assortment of wild weapons at your disposal. Bayonetta 3 just further cements its legacy, strutting out with a surprising sequel in that it actually takes a lot of risks with changing up its established formula in an effort to revitalize a combat system that only slightly evolved between the first two games. Fortunately those risks pay off. Bayonetta 3 is an invigorated sequel with fresh new ideas that embolden its 13-year-old combat system, an impressive amount of variety throughout its 10 to 12-hour campaign, and more of that trademark sexy Bayonetta style that makes the series one of a kind. While the first two Bayonetta games

Creative Assembly Investigating Allegations of Abuse Within the Studio

Total War developer Creative Assembly has announced it is opening an investigation into "deeply concerning and serious allegations regarding a former CA employee." In a statement posted to its Twitter account today , Creative Assembly said it was investigating the situation through a third party. In a follow-up tweet, it encouraged other former employees to share experiences via a dedicated whistleblowing email address. pic.twitter.com/4QlrgMRqoF — Creative Assembly (@CAGames) October 25, 2022 Though Creative Assembly itself did not specify the nature of the allegations, a number of tweets over the last week have spoken up about bullying, harassment, and abuse at the studio either experienced firsthand or heard about, with at least one specific culprit being named by multiple people. Creative Assembly's investigation comes as part of a much larger wave of individuals coming forward about abusive industry work cultures in recent years. Most notably has been the

Or is your top pick Silent Hill 2, Dead Space, or The Forest? We’ve selected 122 of the spookiest games around to “Face-Off” against each other two at a time. Will you choose Inscryption over Amnesia: The Dark Descent? Five Nights at Freddy’s Over Outlast? System Shock Remake: The First Preview

System Shock is a highly influential game. So much so that, thanks to a successful Kickstarter, the original is receiving a modern remake from the ground up. While I never played the 1994 original myself, the time I did have with the upcoming remake gave me a sense of what it was like thanks to its haunting sci-fi atmosphere and breathtaking environments. Even if the moment to moment gameplay isn’t as engaging as I would like it to be. For those like me who are new to System Shock, the first-person sci-fi action-adventure sees you exploring a space base known as Citadel Station. You play as a hacker in the near future who makes a deal with a company called Tri0ptimum to receive a neural implant after releasing the ethical restraints of the station’s artificial intelligence S.H.O.D.A.N. After waking up from a coma due to the operation, you learn that the station is a husk of what it once was as Shodan has taken total control. My demo started from the beginning, on the medical floor
