You Will Lose All Your Oculus Games If You Delete Your Facebook Account

Image
If you own a Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Rift, or Rift S and have linked your Oculus account to Facebook, you will permanently lose all access to your games, purchases, and progress should you happen to delete your Facebook account. As reported by UploadVR, this news came about following the launch of the Oculus Quest 2, which is the first Oculus headset to require owners to log in with a Facebook account. As verified by IGN and seen in the screenshot we've captured below, when you attempt to delete your Facebook account, it says "Deleting your Facebook account will also delete your Oculus information. This includes app purchases and your achievements. You will no longer be able to return any apps and will lose any existing store credits." If you were to deactivate your Facebook account, on the other hand, you would lose access to Oculus products and information, but would be able to get them back if you were to reactivate the account. This is another issue and fear that hav...

Microsoft Sent Snoop Dogg an Xbox Series X Fridge for His Birthday

Many have previously joked that the upcoming Xbox Series X resembles a fridge, and now Microsoft has fully embraced the comparison as it has sent an Xbox Series X-shaped fridge to Snoop Dogg. In a now-deleted post by Snoop Dog, that was saved by Wario64, Snoop shows off his new fridge that literally looks like a giant Xbox Series X, complete with a glowing Xbox symbol. Snoop Dogg has an Xbox Series X fridge pic.twitter.com/7SUCJYdk36 — Wario64 (@Wario64) October 24, 2020 What's more, it was filled with an Xbox Series X birthday cake that says "Happy Birthday to the Xbox OG," an actual Xbox Series X, gin and juice in honor of his song, Xbox-themed jewelry, and more. He even ends the video by saying the classic EA Sports tagline - "It's in the game." Snoop Dogg is no stranger to Xbox and video games, as he was recently put into NHL 20 as a playable character and commentator and, in 2013, released his own game - Way of the Dogg - on Xbox Live Arcade, PS3, ...

Apex Legends' Switch Version Delayed to 2021

Apex Legends has been delayed on Nintendo Switch to 2021, as the team needs more time to "do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve." At EA Play Live 2020, it was announced the Apex Legends would be one of seven games that EA would be bringing to Switch in 2020. However, due to the ongoing issues surround the COVID-19 pandemic, the team decided to delay the game instead of rushing it out for this year. However, when Apex Legends does arrive on Switch, it will support cross-platform play, the latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other version of the game. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/22/apex-legends-fight-or-fright-event-2020-trailer"] For those on PC, Apex Legends will officially be released on Steam when Season 7 launches on November 4, 2020. Halo Movie: Guillermo del Toro Apparently Wanted Master Chief to Have an Evil Twin

In one of its many possible live-action incarnations, Halo was at one point set to become a movie directed by Guillermo del Toro. According to one of the original game's developers, the director was at one point pitching for an adaptation in which Master Chief had an evil twin that sided with enemy faction, The Flood. Speaking on the latest episode of IGN's Devs React to Speedruns series, centred on Halo: Combat Evolved, environment artist (and creator of Halo's title) Paul Russel brought up a mooted del Toro script for a Halo movie, and brought up a surprising plot detail: "Master Chief had a twin brother, and the twin brother sided with The Flood, and then the end of the movie was going to be brother against brother." You can hear the discussion, starting at around 58:54 in the video below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/24/original-halo-developers-react-to-legendary-speedrun"] The rest of the Devs React panel - made up of other Comb...

Among Us Spam Attack Bombards Players With Pro-Trump Message

Among Us is under attack from a series of spam attacks which may have already affected millions of games given the immense popularity of developer Inner Sloth’s social murder-mystery game. The spam attack, nicknamed “Eris Loris” bombards an Among Us game’s chat log with a message to subscribe to Eris Loris’ YouTube channel and to vote for Donald Trump in the 2020 U.S. Presidential elections. Eurogamer spoke with the alleged creator of the spam attack who explained their motives, which if true, are pretty straightforward. PS5: Third-Party Company Already Selling Custom Faceplates

The PlayStation 5's faceplates will be removable, and while Sony has yet to announce any plans to release official variations of the standard white color, a third-party company has already created and put some up for pre-order that are set to ship on or before PS5's release date of November 12, 2020. PlateStation 5, who is "not affiliated in any way with Sony, PlayStation, or the PlayStation 5 brand," is offering five new faceplate options for new PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition owners, including Cherry Red, Chromatic, Indigo Blue, Jungle Camo, and Limited Edition V1 Matte Black. Cyberpunk 2077 Preorders Are Back Down to $49.94

Image
Cyberpunk 2077 is less than a month away. The game has gone gold and is set to release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19, 2020, with full backwards compatibility on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S. And while it's been on sale on Amazon for $10 off for quite a while, that discount went away for a few days. Thankfully, it's back now, but it could vanish at any time. Getting the game for $49.94 is a particularly great deal for anyone upgrading to next-gen systems, because the  Xbox Series X and PS5 upgrades will be free to all owners of the respective current-gen versions as soon as they're released. The game, made by the creators of the Witcher series, is a gritty open-world shooter set in the futuristic Night City. Developer CD Projekt Red says Cyberpunk 2077's cybernetic body modification lets you outfit your character with a wide array of skills that lead to a variety of play styles. It will even feature Keanu Reeves in a major role. If you're ready to se...

Gears 5 Series X Update Brings New Game+, More Batista

When Gears 5 makes its way to Xbox Series X and Series S on November 10, it'll get a big campaign and multiplayer content update to go with it. IGN chatted with members of The Coalition to get a detailed look at what's coming with Gears 5's New Game+, the big multiplayer update, the development process of the visual upgrades, and a tease of what's coming next to Gears 5. Gears 5 Story DLC Is Coming Later This Year

The Coalition is taking its shot at Gears 5 story DLC in December, Gears developers told IGN, and it'll be available on the Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series consoles. "All I can say is December and the title is Hivebusters, so it might give you a little hint as to what that content might contain," said Zoe Curnoe, Gears 5 principal lead producer. "That'll be available on the new consoles as well, so it'll be optimized for those two." In Gears 5, the Hivebusters are a squad of three who never make an appearance in the campaign but instead star in the new mode Escape. Team Scorpio's Keegan, Lahni, and Mac are the default squad (though you can go in with one of your choosing) that infiltrate Swarm hives on what would be considered suicide missions to destory the enemy strongholds from the inside. Team Scorpio doesn't have much of an identity in Gears 5, though they do have an origin story in the Gears of War: Hivebusters comics. Other than an estimate...

The Most Terrifying Scares in Video Games

Image
Video games have the unique ability to put you in the shoes of someone else, which also means they have the ability to scare the crap out of you like no other medium. Phil Spencer Hints at Xbox Game Pass 'Streaming Sticks' for Your TV

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has raised the idea of releasing 'streaming sticks' as part of Xbox Game Pass, which could be used to stream games through xCloud after being plugged into the TV. Speaking to Stratechery  (via The Verge ) Spencer explained: “I think you’re going to see lower priced hardware as part of our ecosystem when you think about streaming sticks and other things that somebody might want to just go plug into their TV and go play via xCloud. "You could imagine us even having something that we just included in the Game Pass subscription that gave you an ability to stream xCloud games to your television and buying the controller.” [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=28-best-xbox-game-pass-games&captions=true"] It's worth pointing out that Spencer is speaking somewhat hypothetically at this point, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Microsoft leverage its streaming resources beyond high-priced console...

Flight Simulator Files Suggest Microsoft Has Discussed VR on Xbox Series X & S

Files found in Microsoft Flight Simulator's PC release suggest that Microsoft has investigated the potential of VR on Xbox Series X & S. As spotted by WindowsCentral , Flight Sim forum user Cygnifick posted a series of filename strings that refer to the codename of the Xbox Series range, Scarlett. Strings such as "Scarlett_VR" and "EDITION_Scarlett PublishedPackages_Scarlett.xml" suggest that Microsoft has, at the very least, been considering the implementation of VR on its next-gen consoles the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator. It's nothing concrete - perhaps Microsoft is testing the functionality internally. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/09/microsoft-flight-simulator-accolades-trailer"] Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in 2021, but Microsoft hasn't said anything about VR support for its next-gen console range, which is why the...

Second Extinction Early Access Review

Historically, splicing dino-DNA with different species has gone terribly for everyone involved, but in this case merging it with the frantic intensity of Left 4 Dead’s co-op and setting it on a vast, open world-style map has worked out nicely thus far. Second Extinction, by Generation Zero creators System Reaction, is a simple concept that I might’ve doodled on my homework in junior high school, but it relies on the speed and polish of its action and the variety of its mutant enemies to stand out. For a co-op focused shooter that just hit Early Access with a planned several months of runway left before full launch, it’s off to a strong start. The premise here is that mutated dinosaurs are taking over the planet and it’s somehow up to you and up to two friends to massacre them and “reclaim Earth” before it’s too late. That’s about it; there isn’t much of an overarching plot here in the sense of overt exposition. Instead, the evolution of the world is the story, conveyed by way of a mo...

Godfall Devs on Loot, Progression, and Making 'The Tinkerer's Dream'

Any good looter game worth its, well, loot, needs to have a solid grasp on its inventory system and customization options. Players need to want to keep looking for more loot, while still finding value in what they’ve already acquired. And so crafting that loop has been a core ambition for Counterplay Games, the team behind PS5 launch game Godfall, which is coming to Sony’s next-gen console and PC on November 12. Speaking with IGN, senior technical producer Richard Heyne walked us through the philosophy behind Godfall’s loot, the customization options it offers, and the many ways the developers are hoping to let players look good, feel powerful, and want to keep coming back to play more. Watch the video above for a look at some of Godfall’s customization and UI options, and read on for more on the philosophy and practical application of Counterplay’s work.
