How to Play the BioShock Games in Chronological Order

Image
Players were enamored by the BioShock series from the moment they escaped a crashed aircraft, entered a mysterious lighthouse, and embarked on their undersea voyage to the crumbling city of Rapture. Often referenced and paid tribute to, many consider Irrational Games’ immersive action-horror classic a masterpiece, and in the years following its debut, it blossomed into a long-running franchise. But in classic BioShock fashion, its sequels were the furthest thing from traditional. As expected for a series that hinges on otherworldly scientific discoveries and reality-tearing experiments, BioShock's story frequently switches between alternate universes, leaving its games out of chronological order. So, for those looking for a linear way to play through BioShock’s full narrative, here’s a quick runthrough of the BioShock series in chronological order. T-Pain Confirms He's Working on GTA 6, Says He Can't Role-Play in GTA 5 Anymore as a Result

Faheem Rashad Najm, better-known as singer-songrwriter T-Pain, is living the dream: he gets to work on Grand Theft Auto VI alongside Rockstar Games. However, it seems like T-Pain's new job is having unintended consequences. In a livestream clip circulated on social media, T-Pain confirmed that he's contributing to Rockstar's anticipated sequel, which was finally revealed in 2023. In the course of bringing T-Pain aboard, though, it seems that Rockstar requested that he stop role-playing on NoPixel — a popular GTA 5 role-play server that runs on third-party servers. At least one fan noticed that T-Pain was no longer on the server and asked what happened. "I used to be on NoPixel, then I started working on GTA VI, and they told me I couldn't do RP anymore because it kind of goes against... they had this whole speech, like, 'What if somebody took your album and re-recorded it, and more people were listening to that,' and I'm like, 'Okay, I kind of

CoD: Warzone's Controversial Covert Exfil Feature Delayed After Community Backlash

Activision and Raven Software are altering their plans to include the new Covert Exfil feature in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 Reloaded. Raven made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), promising to rework the Warzone gameplay tweak after announcing it only a few days ago. The team says the decision arrived after seeing fan feedback about Covert Exfil’s inclusion. However, Raven still feels strongly about the potential the addition could add and isn’t ready to give up on it yet. “We believe that Covert Exfil and the gameplay loop it provides, paired with the Weapons Case, will make for an exciting addition to #Warzone ,” the post explains. “That said, we'll instead launch both of these features in an upcoming dedicated mode.” Information on how Covert Exfil will be reintroduced is being kept under wraps for now. Raven adds, “We're looking forward to the new challenges that these features will provide and to your continued feedback once the mode is available.” Cov

Seth MacFarlane Claims Epic 'Didn't Have the Budget' to Create Peter Griffin's Actual Body in Fortnite

Seth MacFarlane has revealed why Epic Games included Family Guy’s Peter Griffin in Fortnite with a more muscular body than fans are used to. The comedy creator spoke about why the strange but hilarious change was made during a conversation with IGN at the premiere of Peacock's new Ted series. Although the details are a bit fuzzy, it does clear the air at least a little bit. “He’s very muscular in there, right?” MacFarlane said. “I was told that they didn’t have the budget to create his actual body…” Seth MacFarlane on Peter Griffin in Fortnite: “I had to have someone explain to me what the f*ck Fortnite is… and then I said, ‘well that sounds kinda cool!’” pic.twitter.com/gMZrVi16nT — IGN (@IGN) January 12, 2024 The Ted creator went on, comparing Peter Griffin’s ripped new Fortnite physique to a ‘90s TV Guide cover . “So, it was like that TV Guide cover from the ‘90s, where they put Oprah’s head on Ann-Margret’s body. Anybody remember that?” It’s a story that could’ve b

Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age Rise at Last on Nintendo Switch Online

At last, Nintendo is bringing two of the Game Boy Advance's best RPGs to Nintendo Switch Online. Stand up, Golden Sun fans, because we're finally getting Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age on the service next week, on January 17. We knew Golden Sun would make its way to the service eventually - it was teased last year, when Nintendo first unveiled its plans for GBA games coming to Switch Online. But with Golden Sun and its sequel effectively being two critical halves of a full story, it makes a lot more sense to drop them both at the same time. Two epic adventures dawn… Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age are coming to #NintendoSwitch for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack members on 1/17! pic.twitter.com/d3Y5Lx5RX0 — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) January 12, 2024 For those unfamiliar, Golden Sun was a 2001 RPG from developer Camelot, better known now for its work on the Mario Golf and Mario Tennis franchises. It follows a group of four heroes w

Solium Infernum Hands-On Preview: If Civilization Was Set in Hell...

They say it's better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven. Well, "they," in this case, happens to be a guy who literally calls himself the Prince of Lies, so we may want to take that with a grain of salt. But from the time I've spent with Solium Infernum so far, I think he may be right. As a refreshed and reimagined update to a 2009 4X cult classic, it's sort of like Civilization set in the bowels of Hades – but with a greater emphasis on politics and, of course, betrayal. Where Civ puts us in the boots of figures like Teddy Roosevelt or Montezuma, Solium Infernum features a devilishly-rendered cast of archfiends, from the straightforwardly malevolent warlord Astaroth to a nightmarish Beelzebub monstrosity. Each of the models shows off a certain wicked imagination, which allows their personalities to really come across when you're cutting deals or scheming against them. The dialogue lines are even recorded in Enochian, a language created by occultists under

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Sphinx Is Unlike Anything the Series Has Seen Before – IGN First

Image
One of the most striking shots in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date trailer is a shot of a giant, eerily grinning feathered monster with fiery red eyes, ominously approaching the Arisen. To me, it stuck out as a uniquely non-confrontational encounter with a giant and imposing monster, which is not something you see very often in the world of Dragon’s Dogma. Turns out, this monster is Capcom’s take on the legendary Sphinx, a monster that didn’t appear in the first game, but does in fact make an appearance in Dragon’s Dogma Online, a game that never made it to Western shores. But even if you did face off against the Sphinx in Dragon’s Dogma Online, don’t expect the encounter to go exactly the same way, because the Sphinx has a very special role in Dragon’s Dogma 2, assuming you’re able to find it in the first place. The Sphinx is a monster that’s well-hidden in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and lives in isolation. Game Director Hideaki Itsuno himself believes that many players will

CoD: Warzone Introducing New Covert Exfil Feature That Some Feel Makes It Even Less of a Battle Royale

Call of Duty: Warzone is introducing a feature, one that has the community feeling a bit perplexed about the overall direction of Activision's flagship battle royale amid questions about whether or not it will actually be a win condition. Called "Covert Exfil," the new ability will allow players to escape the map early and will include its own leaderboard. Here's the description on the official Call of Duty blog . Speaking of Covert Exfil, players can now exfil the match early with the help of a Covert Exfil. With only five exfils available to purchase per match — for a high price — in Buy Stations before the Gulag closes, a Covert Exfil calls in a helicopter that can fly any player out of the match, ideally with the Weapon Case in their possession. Players can also compete to earn the most successful Covert Exfils with the new Covert Exfil leaderboard stat. It's a significant addition, and it has some fans saying that it makes Call of Duty: Warzone even less

New Apex Legends and Final Fantasy Crossover Event Stuns Fans With $290 Microtransactions

Image
A new Apex Legends and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth crossover event launched January 9th — a first for EA's free-to-download battle royale — and it’s been a big source of criticism from players due to the high price of its microtransactions. Respawn recently launch a new collaboration with Square Enix as part of the run-up to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The event brings with it a new category of cosmetics, and it has the potential to cost players hundreds of dollars. Previously, each Event Pack cost 700 Apex Coins, or around seven dollars. In this event, the price for one event pack is 1,000 Apex Coins, or about $10. With that change alone, this is the most expensive event to date for Apex Legends, with Milestone Rewards like the event’s Death Box skin costing as much as $290. ~1% chance to pull the sword out of $10 packs and a $360 DEATH BOX. 😂 — primehgss *insert something quirky* (@hgssprime) January 6, 2024 Great crossover, but not worth $295 for all the

Dragon’s Dogma 2: A Detailed Look at the Trickster Vocation – IGN First

Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers a wide variety of playstyles depending on what Vocation you select. Most of these are the kinds of archetypes you’d expect: melee sword fighter, speedy dagger wielding thief, ranged archer, and spell slinging mage – and some are hybrid Vocations, like Mystic Spearhand and Magick Archer, that combine elements of one Vocation with another for a completely new style of play. But what of the Trickster Vocation? It was revealed as part of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase back in November, but little has been shown of this unique class beyond that quick 45-second look, and a short description on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 website. Fortunately, as part of our visit to Capcom, we got to sit down and play with the Trickster for about an hour, and I can confidently say that this is a style of play unlike anything I’ve ever seen in an open-world action game. To start, The Trickster is essentially a pacifist. Their chosen weapon, a ceremonial Censer, does little to no damage wh

Supernormal Review

Has any other demo had the impact of Hideo Kojima's genre-redefining PT ? That stunning playable teaser for the scrapped Silent Hills may be a decade old now (sorry, yes, that made me feel ancient, too), but its legacy is still undoubtedly shaping the games we play today. One of the latest to pay homage, Supernormal, says it's the spiritual successor to Allison Road rather than PT itself, another unreleased game that was heavily influenced by Kojima's aborted horror project. But doing the one thing Silent Hills and Allison Road couldn't, Supernormal has actually made it into our hands – and while it doesn't leave the same impact as its inspirations, it certainly has a few moments worthy of them… as long as you're prepared to get through its underwhelming first half to see them. Like PT, Supernormal takes place in just a single location – Mr. Sakamoto's stylish Japanese home – and it's your job as an investigator named Wyatt to uncover exactly what
