Bloodborne Kart Creator Says She Will 'Scrub the Branding Off' After Sony Reached Out

The creator of the game formerly known as Bloodborne Kart has announced she plans to delay the game's release and "scrub the branding off" after being contacted by Sony about the kart racer's use of, well, Bloodborne. WHELP. IT HAPPENED Sony contacted me 🫣 Long story short I need to scrub the branding off of what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart, which we will do. But that requires a short delay. Don't worry, the game is still coming out! It'll just look slightly different 💙 — 🪄💫 PSX Bunlith🐰🏳️‍⚧️ BLM ACAB 🇵🇸 (@b0tster) January 26, 2024 Today, Lilith Walker, or PSX Bunlith (@b0tster) on X/Twitter posted a thread explaining that Sony had reached out, with the end result being that she needed to update the in-progress kart racer to get rid of anything that was too close to copyright infringement. Walker seems to be taking the change in stride. Her thread continued, saying that "we were all expecting this to happen so we could be

How to Get Mounts and Fly in Palworld

Image
There’s plenty to see and do across the Palapagos Islands, and traveling on foot just isn’t going to cut it - no matter how fast you sprint, you’ll get there much quicker on riding the back of a Pal. How to Ride Pals Certain Pals have Partner Skills that allow you to mount them and ride them around. In order to do so, you’ll need to craft a saddle for the specific Pal you want to ride. Saddle recipes for rideable Pals are unlocked at different levels on the technology tree, so you’ll need to level up before you can ride stronger Pals. Once you’ve unlocked the recipe, you can craft Pal saddles at a Pal Gear Workbench. The earliest saddle you can craft is the Rushoar saddle at level 6, followed by the Melpaca saddle at level 7. At level 12, you can craft a saddle for the best early game mount, Eikthyrdeer . You can use its ability, Antler Uppercut, to charge forward for a burst of speed, helping you get around faster. It also knocks down and damages any Pals you run into, which

Dragon’s Dogma 2: The Final Preview - IGN First

I thought it’d just be a simple sidequest. The owner of an apothecary enlisted my help to find his lost grandson, who had been taken by wolves. As I followed the trail, I heard a screeching noise from up above. All of a sudden I’m in a battle for my life against a Griffin. It’s a monster that’s far too strong for my party to handle, but we fight and claw and hold our ground until we finally get it to retreat. I breathe a sigh of relief, then set up at the nearby camp and sleep till nightfall. That sleep is interrupted by the same Griffin, back for revenge. That fight somehow boils over into another battle with a Wight, who proceeds to beat me within an inch of my life before I finally take him out, just as the sun rises, after an epic 20-minute battle. None of this was part of the actual quest involving saving the boy. It was just a series of events that cascaded into one of the most unforgettable encounters I’ve had in an open-world action-RPG. And it was just one of the incredibl

Fortnite Will Return to iOS, But Only in Europe

Almost four years after being removed from the App Store , Epic Games has announced it is bringing back the iOS version of Fortnite, but this will only be available for countries in the European Union (EU). Remember Fortnite on iOS? How bout we bring that back. Later this year Fortnite will return in Europe on iOS through the @EpicGames Store. (shoutout DMA - an important new law in the EU making this possible). @Apple , the world is watching. pic.twitter.com/VdHWTe8i1c — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) January 25, 2024 A new post on the official Fortnite X/Twitter account reveals that the popular free-to-play battle royale will be released on iOS via the Epic Games Store. This will be made possible for two reasons: Apple announced today that it has updated its App Store policies to appease EU regulators. Most notably, iPhone users in that region can download apps from third-party app stores under the revised EU app store policy. Apple partly revised these app store policies tha

The Team Working on Blizzard's Now-Canceled Survival Was Seemingly Gutted Amid Xbox Mass Layoffs

The development team behind Blizzard's now-cancelled survival game , reportedly called Odyssey , is seemingly among the teams dramatically impacted by the layoffs at Microsoft today. According to multiple former team members posting on Twitter, the team is among the 1,900 employees impacted by the mass layoffs at Microsoft's gaming division , which comes after the company's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard and the departure of CEO Bobby Kotick last year. Mike Ybarra, who announced his decision to leave his position as President of Blizzard Entertainment, previously said that Odyssey's development team doubled in 2022 , with plans to grow further. Now, the game is not only cancelled, but seemingly a significant portion of the team that had been working on it for six years has been let go. IGN has reached out to Xbox for clarification on how much of the team was impacted. Several developers from the project took to Twitter/X to express their grief o

Yu-Gi-Oh's Next Set Looks Packed With Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Other FromSoftware References

The next Yu-Gi-Oh trading card set looks packed with Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and other FromSoftware references, with monsters seemingly based on the likes of the Fire Keeper, Godfrey, and more. As reported by DiceBreaker , the Phantom Nightmare Yu-Gi-Oh set arrives February 3 and fans have noticed that certain promotional material released by Konami bears a striking resemblance to the beloved series of FromSoftware video games. "The events of an ancient battle play out over and over again as a brand new world premiere Pyro theme lights up the field in Phantom Nightmare," reads the official synopsis. "Make sure to pick up Maze of Millennia to get your copies of Bonfire so you’ll be ready to try it out when Phantom Nightmare launches in February." Ancient battle playing out over and over is very Dark Souls , which is all about linking the fire in perpetuity. Pyro and Bonfire also tick plenty of boxes (alongside a new Ashened archtype), and artwork released by Ko

PS5 Update Appears to Block Controversial Cronus Zen Device

This week’s PlayStation 5 firmware update appears to have blocked the Cronus Zen device, which lets gamers use macros and modify their controllers. It is a controversial product, which some say gives players an unfair advantage. While the Zen is used in many competitive multiplayer games, it’s perhaps most prominent in Call of Duty, which has crossplay across PC and console. According to its website, Zen is used by over half a million people. Call of Duty players have used unauthorised third-party hardware such as XIM and Cronus Zen to benefit from the likes of aim assist and reduced recoil while using mouse and keyboard for years. Activision said in 2023 its anti-cheat tech, Ricochet, would detect their use and bans would follow for repeat offenders. Now, following the release of PS5 firmware update 24.01-08.60.00, Cronus has issued a statement addressing the block, and warned users not to update their console while it works on a fix. “We're aware of an issue with Zen and

The Pokemon Company Makes an Official Statement on Palworld: 'We Intend to Investigate'

The Pokemon Company has finally made an official statement regarding Palworld, saying, "We intend to investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to the Pokémon." While The Pokemon Company doesn't specifically mention Palworld by name, it is very clear this statement is in response to the incredible success the survival game is experiencing (8 million copies sold in less than six days!) and the claims that many of Palworld's Pals are way too close to existing Pokemon. "We have received many inquiries regarding another company’s game released in January 2024," The Pokemon Company wrote. "We have not granted any permission for the use of Pokémon intellectual property or assets in that game. We intend to investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to the Pokémon. We will continue to cherish and nurture each an

Unmatched Adventures: Tales to Amaze Board Game Review

Image
As a series, Unmatched is pretty much unmatched. Its central conceit -- duels between two fictional characters from across fantasy and sci-fi, myth and movies -- sounds shaky. But in practice, its simple yet exciting and tactical systems have led to great release after great release. Where else can you enjoy a truly compelling showdown between Beowulf and Deadpool? This latest box in the series, Unmatched Adventures: Tales to Amaze is, however, a major departure mechanically because it can be played as a cooperative board game as well as head-to-head. The question is whether it’ll also be a departure in terms of quality. What’s in the Box Most Unmatched boxes are small, understated affairs and belie the cool miniatures -- and the fun -- within. Unmatched Adventures: Tales to Amaze is a bigger, showier thing that arrives in the kind of square box that’s typical of modern board games. The cover art, full of color and detail, is also a step up from the usual limited palette, cartoon

Modder Who Put Pokémon Into Palword Says 'Nintendo Has Come for Me'

The modder who put Pokémon into Palword has claimed “Nintendo has come for me” after a takedown of a tweet. Creator Toasted Shoes took to X/Twitter to tease a Palworld mod with a clip showing Pokémon’s Ash Ketchum in place of the player character, as well as famous Pokémon such as Pikachu replacing Palworld’s Pals. Palworld is a crafting and survival game dubbed 'Pokémon with guns'. It features monsters called Pals, which some people have said “rip off” Pokémon . Nintendo has come for me, please leave me in your thoughts and prayers pic.twitter.com/HGg65y67Qp — Toasted (@ToastedShoes) January 23, 2024 Palworld developer Pocketpair has insisted Palworld is more akin to survival crafting games such as Ark Survival Evolved and Valheim than Pokemon, but that hasn’t stopped people from continuing to hit out at the game. Within 24 hours of Toasted Shoes’ tweet going live it was hauled offline by an apparant Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown from Nintendo, wh

Riot Games Lays Off 530 or 11% of Staff, Axes Riot Forge Label

Riot Games is laying off roughly 530 people, or about 11% of its global workforce, in a move the company says is "a necessity" and not "to appease shareholders." In a letter to staff shared publicly , Riot Games CEO A. Dylan Jadeja explained that the layoffs are occurring because since 2019, the company has been making "a number of big bets," "broadening our portfolio," and growing "quickly," with the company size doubling in "just a few years." However, those big bets do not seem to be paying off in the way Riot hoped: Today, we’re a company without a sharp enough focus, and simply put, we have too many things underway. Some of the significant investments we’ve made aren’t paying off the way we expected them to. Our costs have grown to the point where they’re unsustainable, and we’ve left ourselves with no room for experimentation or failure – which is vital to a creative company like ours. All of this puts the core of o

Each season will introduce a new playable character and one new playable environment, among other things such as new weapons and activities. The marquee of season one is that Joker will be a new playable cha

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Director Explains Why Less Fast Travel Can be a Good Thing

Fast travel is a contentious issue within open world games. Make it too easy, and you risk trivializing the world; make it too hard, and players may find travel tedious. Weighing in on the debate, Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno explained why he is keen to avoid the former, preferring that players travel normally and experience the world around them. “Just give it a try. Travel is boring? That's not true. It's only an issue because your game is boring. All you have to do is make travel fun,” Itsuno told IGN in a new interview, part of our the exclusive month-long IGN First coverage of Dragon’s Dogma 2. “That's why you place things in the right location for players to discover, or come up with enemy appearance methods that create different experiences each time, or force players into blind situations where they don't know whether it's safe or not ten meters in front of them.” “We've put a lot of work into designing a game where you can stumble acro

Palworld Dev Working to Fix Serious Bugs, Including Lost Save Data

While Palworld has enjoyed an enormous launch , there are a number of serious bugs affecting players. Developer Pocketpair said it’s working on issuing fixes, including for players who are unable to enter servers, unable to play multiplayer, and a dreaded lost saved data bug. In a post on the Palworld Discord, community manager ‘Bucky’ said the developer had received over 50,000 inquiries since the game went on sale on January 19. “We sincerely apologize for the delay in response from our support team,” Bucky said. Bucky said save data from single-player and co-op “may be able to be restored”, and pointed to a Google Doc with instructions to help. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused," Bucky continued. "Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.” Palworld has a particularly nasty bug that may cause the ‘Memory Reset Drug’, which is used to reset character stats, to permanently reduce the player’s capture power. Community manager Kei said Pocketpair is inve
