If Not Eddie Brock, Who Is Venom in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2?

Image
Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 game made a brief appearance at Summer Game Fest 2023 , where we learned two important details about the long-awaited sequel. It’s hitting stores in October , and the version of Venom featured in the game isn’t Eddie Brock. In fact, Insomniac is setting out to introduce a version of Venom very different from what fans have seen before in the comics, shows and movies. But if Venom isn’t Eddie Brock, then who is bonded to the symbiote this time around? What possibilities are there that don’t follow the same path as Venom stories of the past? Let’s break down a few theories and potential options based on the direction of the Insomniac series so far. Harry Osborn At this point in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, all signs point to Peter Parker’s childhood friend Harry Osborn becoming the Venom of this universe. One of the quest lines in the first game establishes that Harry has become terminally ill with Oshtoran Syndrome, the same disease that killed his mothe

Greyhill Incident Review

Like a low-budget, fan-made sequel to a classic movie, Greyhill Incident eagerly incorporates all the worst parts of the genuine article, neglects all of the best parts, and has nothing original to say of its own. This lifeless horror game is so barebones that it manages to make something as exciting as an alien invasion feel more like a visit from the in-laws, with all of the same wasted time and low-stakes hiding under beds. With a story and voice performances that are laughably bad, stealth gameplay that’s determined to disrespect your time as much as possible, bland environments, and all manner of weird bugs gunking up an already unenjoyable sequence of chores, Greyhill Incident offers very few reasons to recommend it. Even when it’s so bad it comes dangerously close to being hilarious, no amount of chuckling or facepalms can save this dud of a game. Greyhill Incident attempts to tell a classic alien invasion story, putting you in the conspiratorial, government-hating boots of

Final Fantasy 16: A Closer Look at Hunt Battles – IGN First

While Final Fantasy XVI has a linear structure for the most part, there are also four vast areas that the player can freely explore. In these areas lurk tough enemies, called Notorious Marks. As they are side content, engaging in battle against them is completely optional. However, players who do slay them can receive precious rewards. Each of these enemies has a rank, which indicates its strength. Of course, the higher the rank, the better the rewards. Notorious Marks can be found by naturally exploring the game’s open areas, but you can also learn their location through the Hunt Board, which protagonist Clive can access in the hideaway area. In our exclusive video, you can see two different Notorious Mark battles. Grimalkin is a level 32 monster of rank C that is somewhat reminiscent of a hyena or leopard. Before you get to fight it, you will have to take care of a pack of Wild Nakks that seem to be functioning as its henchmen. Grimalkin charges at you with its fierce claws, but

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a new 2D action platformer, developed by Rayman Legends studio Ubisoft Montpellier. Playing as a Persian warrior named Sargon, you will explore the cursed region of Mount Qaf in search of the missing Prince Ghassan. Built using a Metroidvania structure, the large map spans a variety of Persian mythology-inspired environments including the “majestic” Citadel of Knowledge and outdoor regions such as the Hyrcanian Forest. Each area contains platforming dangers, puzzles, and combat encounters, as well as new time powers to unlock and side quests to complete. The trailer at Summer Game Fest showed off several glimpses of The Lost Crown’s challenges, including the boss battle with Jahandar the Manticore. Disney Lorcana: Lawsuit From Rival Publisher Threatens to Postpone Launch

Disney Lorcana publisher Ravensburger is being sued by trading card rival Upper Deck Company in a move which threatens to postpone the highly anticipated game's release date. As reported by Polygon , the lawsuit filed on June 7 alleges Lorcana co-designer Ryan Miller created a "nearly identical" game called Rush of Ikorr while under contract at Upper Deck. The company is seeking an injunction that would delay Lorcana's launch, currently set for August 18, while also demanding punitive damages, restitution, and "injunctive relief enjoining Ravensburger from publicly releasing Lorcana". An Upper Deck press release labelled Lorcana a "stolen game" and said the company is suing Ravensburger and Miller for "stealing and copying Upper Deck's original game which Ravensburger repackaged and marketed as Lorcana". "We invested significant time and resources to develop a new and novel trading card game," added Upper Deck preside

Whoopi Goldberg Really Wants Blizzard to Release Diablo 4 on Mac

Diablo 4 is Blizzard’s fastest-selling game , but one customer can’t play it. That customer is Oscar-winning Ghost actress Whoopi Goldberg, who said she bought the action role-playing game thinking she could play it on her Mac like its predecessors. Diablo 4, unfortunately for Goldberg, is only available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. In a video posted to her Instagram account, first reported by Entertainment Weekly , Goldberg pleaded with Blizzard to release Diablo 4 on Mac. "This is what I'm asking you, Blizzard," Goldberg said. "This is Whoopi. You know how much I love Diablo. I would like y'all to let those of us who use our Apples to play… allow us to play on the Apple. Take Diablo 4 and let us do it and have a great time.” Then: "Give me my [Diablo] 4, because I paid for it, I was all excited for it, I went to play on it, and I'm telling you, this really pissed me off." Clearly, Goldberg failed to read the list of supported platforms b

Yakuza Spin-Off Like a Dragon Gaiden Seemingly Arrives This November

Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name arrives November 9 this year according to a PlayStation Store leak. As reported by Gematsu , new details for Like a Dragon Gaiden appeared on PlayStation Store price tracking website PSDeals , suggesting the game now exists in the store's backend even if it's not available to view publicly. A synopsis of the game arrived alongside the release date leak. "Once a legendary yakuza, Kazuma Kiryu faked his own death and abandoned his name for the sake of protecting his family," it said. "Now, he is thrust into conflict by a mysterious figure attempting to drive him out of hiding." The description also highlights two distinct fighting styles available to players: the aggressive Yakuza style and the gadget-infused Agent style. "With the Yakuza style, strike fear into enemies by unleashing wildly aggressive moves powered by Kiryu’s unparalleled strength and flair," the post said. "

Why Capcom Shouldn't Skip a Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake

Resident Evil: Code Veronica starts ominously. An opening crawl tells us a mid-western town, Raccoon City, has been completely decimated due to a T-Virus outbreak. Helicopters fly towards a mysterious island where Claire Redfield’s unloaded and then knocked out – she was captured by the Umbrella Corporation while infiltrating a Parisian lab. She was looking for her brother, the infamous police officer Chris Redfield. In a flashback, Claire sprints down a hallway, a machine gun firing at her, shards of glass going everywhere. She’s soon cornered and captured, but not without setting a few Umbrella employees on fire. If any of the series’ early installments deserves a comeback, it’s Code Veronica. It’s an opening cutscene as instantly iconic as they come; a brazen, action-filled beginning inspired by Face/Off director John Woo’s movies. As Claire wakes up in a dingy prison on Rockfort Island, the game’s creepy atmosphere envelops you. Unlike the previous three Resident Evil games, t

Madden NFL 24 Revealed: 10 Things to Know After Our First Hands-On

Madden NFL has even more to prove than usual this year. Heading into its fourth year in the PS5 / Xbox Series X generation, EA’s storied football series has more in common with the Chicago Bears than the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs. The last three entries have been battered by fans and critics alike , with last year’s release averaging a 69 on Metacritic. As in previous years, EA’s strategy is to basically play defense and ignore the bad press, claiming that players are actually very happy while keeping the focus on the game it wants to promote. EA revealed Madden 24 to a group of reporters and influencers at a press event last week, opting to move away from the staggered info drops from previous years in favor of a more concentrated blast of news. In so doing, EA revealed that virtually every major mode is getting some kind of interesting upgrade, with the only one missing in action being Madden Ultimate Team. Keeping with the focus of previous years, EA is putting a big
