Thirty Seconds Of Elden Ring Gameplay Appears To Have Leaked Online

What appears to be new Elden Ring gameplay footage is currently making the rounds on social media, seemingly offering a glimpse of how the game will run outside of official trailers. The thirty-second clip is set on a rocky hilltop near a broken castle, with a spectral tree rising in the distance. After rotating the camera to offer a clearer look at the environment, we're treated to the character jumping up to the hill crest, causing a pair of eagles to light into the air in a flurry of feathers. Alleged Elden Ring footage from xbox One. pic.twitter.com/uaGbogXBrB — Jeff Grubb (@JeffGrubb) October 16, 2021 The footage was allegedly captured on an Xbox One, though its origin remains unconfirmed. Assuming it's legitimate, the new footage gives us a better feel for Elden Ring's movement, particularly in terms of how the main character handles jumping. Otherwise we still know comparatively little about Elden Ring, though we're just a few months from its release da

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Trailer Easter Egg Honors the Characters' Comic Book Origins - DC FanDome 2021

Image
The brand-new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League trailer features an Easter Egg that honors the comic book origins of main characters Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark. As reported by GamesRadar.com, the Suicide Squad trailer, which debuted at DC FanDome 2021, gives us another glimpse at these four characters and one scene at the beginning shows them in prison garb. While that alone may not be too surprising considering these characters have dark pasts, the numbers on their clothes reference their first appearance in the comics. Captain Boomerang sports the number 117-12-60 and it is a reference to his first appearance in The Flash #117 in December 1960. Deadshot's inmate number is 59-06-50 and honors his debut in Batman #59 in June 1950. King Shark, who is wearing a prison uniform that hints he was transferred from Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary, has the number 001094 - a reference to his first showing in Superboy #0 in October 1994. For those unaware, Bell

Gotham Knights Gets a New Story Trailer, But No New Release Date

Gotham Knights has gotten a new story trailer and behind-the-scenes featurette. Unfortunately, after a recent delay into 2022 , we didn't get a new release date. Shown at DC FanDome 2021 , the story trailer shows Nightwing talking to supervillain The Penguin, who explains that the Batfamily – Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood – don't stand a chance in a Gotham being run by the deadly secret society, The Court of Owls. The trailer goes onto show action scenes featuring the entire Batfamily, multiple Talons (the Court of Owls' assassins), and some intriguing locations featuring dungeon-like traps, scattered bones, and even a mysteriously placed Bat Signal. A separate behind-the-scenes featurette included game developers, Court of Owls co-creators Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, and DC CCO Jim Lee discussing the game and its inspirations. Snyder explains that what he's seen of the game, saying "I was blown away. It took what we had done with Court of Owls

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League - First Footage Revealed at DC Fandome 2021

More than a year after being announced, we've finally seen the first in-engine footage of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which included looks at the game's versions of The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Shown off at DC FanDome 2021 , a story trailer (which did not reveal a new release date, but reconfirmed a 2022 release) showed the game's main characters being recruited from Arkham Asylum (the version from Rocksteady's Batman games, incidentally) and sent to Metropolis to fight a seemingly alien threat. However, the objective is changed to killing the Justice League shortly after their arrival. Interestingly, though, while we definitely see corrupted versions of Superman and The Flash, and what may well be a corrupted Green Lantern (seemingly the John Stewart version), it seems as though Wonder Woman may remain uncorrupted, as we see her fighting Superman along the way. LexCorp also appears to be a big part of the story in some regard - perhaps th

Injustice: How Superman's Failure Broke the DC Universe

The DC multiverse is full of parallel versions of Earth vibrating in cosmic harmony. In many of these universes, one key event happens differently, causing a chain reaction that results in a world very unlike the DC Universe we know and love. That’s certainly the case with the universe of Injustice: Gods Among Us. This world has become a hellish dystopia, and it’s all because of Superman’s failure. It turns out even the Man of Steel has some major blemishes on his record. Now that Injustice has become an animated movie, let’s explore how the worst day of Superman’s life is the catalyst for one of the most fascinating alternate DC Universes of them all, with some input from the two stars of the film, Justin Hartley, who plays Superman, and Anson Mount, who plays Batman. The Day Metropolis Died The world of Injustice is more or less identical to the regular DCU until one fateful day Joker and Harley Quinn pay a visit to Metropolis. As Joker explains, he’s tired of losing to Batman,

FIFA Challenges EA's Soccer Monopoly In New Statement

For more than a decade now, EA's FIFA franchise has had a virtual monopoly in the video game soccer space, overshadowing Pro Evolution Soccer while raking in hundreds of millions dollars from FIFA Ultimate Team . But recent events is putting that dominance under threat, with FIFA issuing a release saying future games "must" involve more than party. In the new statement, FIFA pronounced itself "bullish" over "the future of gaming and esports." The statement also appeared to explicitly denounce the current state of the football gaming market, which has been ruled by EA for years now. "FIFA is bullish and excited about the future in gaming and eSports for football, and it is clear that this needs to be a space that is occupied by more than one party controlling all rights," the statement read. "Technology and mobile companies are now actively competing to be associated with FIFA, its platforms, and global tournaments. Consequently, F

Back 4 Blood Review

Amid a sea of seemingly endless looter-shooters, Back 4 Blood bucks a lot of trends in favor of something old-fashioned. After spending 25 hours with this four-player cooperative first-person shooter, I came to love its glorious white-knuckle tone, clever card-based progression, and varied, fist-pump-worthy campaign. An awkward difficulty curve and a stale versus mode prevent Back 4 Blood from moving into a full-blown sprint, but it still provides an exciting mix of new and old ideas as you mow down shambling legions of the undead. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where popping zombies (called “Ridden” here) in the head is as ordinary as brushing your teeth, Back 4 Blood follows a community of survivors trying not to get their jugulars torn out before breakfast. This isn't a plot you'll get deeply invested in, as it's just a series of thinly-veiled excuses to shoot zombies with friends, but that's all the justification the four-act campaign needs. Despite dire circums

Animal Crossing Fans Are Obsessed With Its New Froggy Chair

Image
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting a ton of new content next month , but the addition that has the most people talking isn't the major DLC expansion, Gyroids, cooking, or even Brewster and the Roost. It's the return of Froggy Chair. Froggy Chair was the center of a late 2019 meme that took over the Animal Crossing fandom leading up to the release of New Horizons in March 2020. It started when Tumblr user garbuge posted a meme including Froggy Chair and its price of 1,440 bells, with the MCU's Thanos underneath, saying, "A small price to pay for froggy chair." The meme is a play on Thanos' quote, "a small price to pay for salvation." Shortly after, the meme made another appearance on Reddit , when user Sebastian_Kackmann posted another Froggy Chair/Thanos crossover in the Animal Crossing subreddit. When marketing for New Horizons picked up, so did the meme. Every Animal Crossing news release was flooded with frog emojis and Froggy Ch

Developer Who Worked on Metroid Dread Doesn't Appear In the Credits

Crediting has long been a thorny issue in the video game industry, and MercurySteam is the latest studio to not list every developer who worked on the game in the credits based on its internal crediting policy. As seen on ResetEra , Spanish gaming website Vandal published an article detailing how Madrid-based MercurySteam did not list employees who worked on the game for less than 25% of the game's total development time. The article claims the game was in development for four years, meaning employees who worked on the game for less than a year were not credited. Vandal's article lists three developers who were not credited in the game, including 3D artist Roberto Meijias, animator Tania Penaranda, and a third, anonymous employee. Mejias took to Linkedin to congratulate the team and ask MercurySteam directly why he's not in the credits despite the game using assets and environments Mejias worked on. IGN has reached out to Nintendo and MercurySteam for comment, but

We Sent a Virtual War Reporter Into New World

Image
The knight storms forward, hammer swinging on his back, armor gleaming in the sun. He barrels through the crowds in Windsward, a village bustling with arrivals every day, just one of the million people clamouring to start a life on the lush island of Aeternum. This is New World, the new massively multiplayer RPG from Amazon Games. The knight's name is 'Judge's Verdict' and he is on the warpath. "How are we doing on the fort?" he shouts into the chat. "Do I need to come over?" He doesn’t wait for an answer. He's already running. Judge is a disciple of a grand religious sect whose uniforms are dyed a zealous yellow. But this holy order, called Covenant, is not above violence. When I see Judge lumbering out the town gates, I stop dead. As a virtual war reporter, there's only one thing you can do when a big man thunders past talking loudly about a fort being under siege. You follow him. It's only been a few weeks yet each faction is alre

Propnight Is a New Multiplayer Horror That Crosses Dead By Daylight With Goosebumps

Beloved horror novelist R. L. Stine is best known for two long-running book series; Fear Street and Goosebumps. Where Fear Street can be grisly and gory, Goosebumps tames and reinvents horror tropes for a younger audience. If Dead by Daylight is Fear Street, then, Propnight is Goosebumps. Its skeleton is identical to the Twitch-favourite, but it wears a very different, much more vibrant skin suit. And beneath that skin is a new collection of guts and organs, freshly transplanted from shapeshifting hide-and-seek game, Prop Hunt. Created by FNTASTIC, the developer behind upcoming zombie MMO The Day Before , Propnight is an asymmetric multiplayer PC game in which four teenage survivors must escape from a nightmare while being stalked by a player-controlled killer. Breaking free from this terror realm requires repairing five ‘Propmachines’ before time runs out, with each new device repaired further delaying an unsuccessful end to the match. Successfully repairing all five without being

Spelunky's World Record Holder Exposed As a Cheater

In 2012, a player going by the name of BarryMode completed the original version of Spelunky in 2 minutes and 30 seconds — setting a speedrunning record for the game that lasted almost a decade. Now, however, following efforts from the game's community it has been revealed that the player's blistering time was only made possible through cheating. As reported by Waypoint , BarryMode's record-setting time had long since raised suspicions from members of the speedrunning community with doubts being raised for several reasons. Not only was BarryMode an unknown player to the speedrunning community — raising questions over who he was in the first place — he also opted to take a number of routes in the run that seasoned speedrunners felt were illogical. This lead many to question whether he knew in advance the best path to take through Spelunky's sprawling network of caves. In addition, speedrunners across the years have raised their doubts over the time of the run itself

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Winding Down Support After Big November DLC Releases

Nintendo has confirmed to IGN that Animal Crossing: New Horizons' version 2.0 update and its Happy Home Paradise paid DLC will be the final major updates to the game that has sold over 33 million copies since its launch in March 2020. Nintendo shared the news with IGN in a presentation for today's Animal Crossing Direct, where it revealed that the version 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise DLC will both be available on November 5, 2021. Following that date, Nintendo says it will only be supporting the game with small changes. Considering the free Version 2.0 update brings with it Brewster and his coffee shop The Roost, other fan-favorite villagers, Gyroids, cooking, Island Ordinances, and more alongside Happy Home Paradise's promise of letting you design villager's dream homes on a new archipelago, it is leaving players a ton of new ways to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
