Starfield: The Best Ship to Get Early

Image
Space combat in Starfield only gets more challenging as you progress through the main story, but the Frontier isn't going to get any better unless you invest in it. Instead of upgrading the ship you've got buying a new ship, we'd recommend earning ships for free. One of the best ships you can get in Starfield is called the Razorleaf , and the only way you can get it is by completing a side mission called Mantis. It's a higher-level mission, but it's worth strongarming for the rewards. Not only is the Razorleaf fast, equipped with great weapons, and worth over 120,000 credits, but it also comes with a shielded cargo hold if you're looking to smuggle contraband . Plus you'll get other great rewards with the ship. In order to start the Mantis quest you'll need to find and read a data slate called "Secret Outpost!" which is dropped at random by Spacers and can drop rather early in Starfield. You might already have it! If you don't, her

The Best GTA Protagonists, Ranked

Spanning over 16 titles, the Grand Theft Auto series has garnered quite a reputation during its time as one of gaming’s seminal franchises. No matter which entry you visit, you’ll find a sprawling open world filled with high-speed car chases, daring heists, intense gunfights and a huge metropolis to explore. But while carnage and police pursuits are largely Grand Theft Auto’s bread and butter, it’s not the only thing fans rely on Rockstar to provide. Alongside a fully interactive sandbox, Grand Theft Auto games are lorded for their stories. Across over two decades of releases, the franchise has transformed into a crime saga like no other, telling the tales of an array of ambitious criminals completing seemingly impossible scores, intercepting seedy criminal underworlds and usurping feared crime lords. And as a result, the protagonists of these games have become iconic. Whether it’s Niko’s silent reflections about the cycle of revenge or Trevor’s uncanny ability to wake up in rand

Starfield PSA: You Should Mainline the Main Quests to Get to This Cool Thing

While playing through Starfield's 19 Main Missions you'll unlock some cool things, but one set of very cool things is a game changer. We will spoil it below for those who are OK with that sort of thing, but suffice it to say: We highly recommend playing through a specific amount of the Main Missions to unlock a very cool thing that you'll want to use in the remaining Main Missions, Side Missions , faction quests, and basically every opportunity — and it's something that, if you get it early, it gets even better the more you play. This tip is so good. For real. We wish someone would have told us this before we started playing. Which Main Missions to Mainline Intrigued? OK, here's the spoiler free version: Simply unlock and beat the Main Mission Into the Unknown and Starfield will get much cooler. You'll need to play through these missions first: One Small Step The Old Neighborhood Back to Vectera The Empty Nest Into the Unknown - This is where you&

13 Games Like Starfield Worth Playing Right Now

After years of cryptic teaser trailers and a fair few delays, Bethesda Game Studios’ latest sprawling open-world RPG, Starfield has finally arrived. Taking players to the vast regions of space, the latest adventure from the minds behind Skyrim and Fallout 4 is a monstrously big intergalactic journey with plenty of planets to explore and celestial sweet rolls to steal. However, if you don't have an Xbox or a powerful gaming PC, that glorious field of stars is likely out of reach for you. Below, we’ve put together a list of some of the best games similar to Starfield that scratch that same interstellar itch. So, without further ado, let’s run through of the best games like Starfield you can play in 2023. No Man’s Sky With Starfield boasting over 1,000 unique planets to explore, it didn’t take long for players to begin comparing it to one of the most expansive space sandboxes ever conceived: No Man’s Sky . Although Hello Games’ procedurally generated online sci-fi adventure d

New Limited Edition PS5 Plate Replacement Look Even Better Than Sony's Official Spider-Man Plates

If you're a fan of Spider-Man and are extremely bummed that you were unable to secure one of those limited-edition PS5 faceplates, fear not. For Dbrand has a (third-party) solution for you: its new Arachnoplates . As a quick refresher, at San Diego Comic-Con this past July, PlayStation unveiled a new PS5 with a DualSense controller and faceplates themed after the iconic web-slinger , as shown in the image below. Unfortunately, the console, along with the standalone SKUs for the controller and especially the faceplates, sold out rather quickly. As the name implies, Dbrand's latest PS5 faceplates are spider-themed. The Arachanoplates are black with a red design that also takes up a good chunk of the design. If you really want to go all out, Dbrand even made a middle skin to put on the front center of the PS5, along with red light strips. Those two things will cost you extra, though, retailing for $11.95 each. As shown in the gallery below, the Arachnoplates have a lot more

Starfield: Where to Sell Contraband Without Getting Shielded Cargo

Making money, or credits, in Starfield can take a lot of time if you don't take advantage of some of Starfield's more disreputable activities. The easiest of these is finding and selling contraband. As far as we've seen possession of these yellow-marked items has no impact on companion relationships , and unless it's a UC or Freestar Collective scanner, no one really cares if you have it. Contraband are illicit items like harvested organs found in enemy buildings and ships and locked up in security stations. Upon entering the space around major settled systems locations the local security will scan your ship upon entry in search of contraband. The only way to hide it is by having shielded cargo or by fast-traveling out of the area in the few seconds it takes them to scan your ship. You can learn how to get shielded cargo here if you insist on bringing your contraband to New Atlantis or another major settlement, but instead, we recommend you save yourself the credit

Mortal Kombat 1's Jean-Claude Van Damme Skin Shown Off During Ed Boon's Hot Ones Interview

Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, brought the heat on a Sept. 7 episode of Hot Ones during a conversation about Mortal Kombat 1, showing off the first look at Johnny Cage's Jean-Claude Van Damme skin. It marks a rare appearance for a video game personality on the hit YouTube series, which mostly features film, TV, and music celebrities as they attempt to eat wings that gradually get spicier while making it through an interview. Boon did the same, and he and Hot Ones host Sean Evans had plenty to talk about in regards to Mortal Kombat 1. One new addition that's been decades in the making is the inclusion of Jean-Claude Van Damme in the form of a Johnny Cage skin, which will be available for players who purchase the Premium/Kollector's editions of the game. "We tried a number of times going back and forth with [Van Damme]," Boon said. "This time we hit the lottery and we got him. And we actually have his voice, and he's going to be the Johnny

Starfield Players Are Finding Its Funniest Bugs, From Levitating NPCs to Missing Heads

While bugs in new games are far from uncommon, Bethesda Game Studios has a certain reputation for them - especially for those that happen to be both harmless and hilarious (there are more than a few compilations of the funniest Skyrim bugs out there). Starfield, while being less buggy than other Bethesda releases, most certainly still has a few, and a lot of them are predictably absurd. Users on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and the Starfield subreddit have been posting all about the funny bugs and glitches they have encountered as they venture across the Settled Systems. Some on Reddit have reported, for example, watching NPCs missing half their bodies while standing in their ship; some see characters randomly floating in the air for no reason at all . One Redditor under the username TheRogu3DM found a bug where he heard loud gunshots and banging noises but could not find where the noise was coming from. If you want a spooky glitch, other users have reported N

14 Must-See Games from PAX West 2023

PAX West was back in full force in 2023. As one of North America's largest video game shows, the popular fan convention allows the gaming audience to sample some of the next big games, and smaller surprises, set for release this Fall and in 2024. With other adjacent events happening during PAX West 2023, such as Nintendo Live and The Mix's Media Indie Exchange, the offerings this year featured a wide breadth of pulse-pounding action games and other titles that went for a more cozy and chill vibe to help set a different mood. In this roundup of cool games, we're spotlighting some of the most exciting and eye-grabbing games we saw during PAX West 2023 and other adjacent events. Dungeons of Hinterberg Developer: Microbird Games | Publisher: Curve Games | Release Date: TBD 2024 What makes Dungeons of Hinterberg such a charming game is that it really sticks firmly to its "cozy" take on a dungeon crawler. Set in a scenic Austrian town where mysterious dungeons and

Starfield Players Are Really Trying to Pretend It's On PlayStation

Starfield is now available on PC and as an Xbox Series X and S console exclusive, but some players are really trying to pretend it's on PlayStation 5 too. From using the DualSense controller to play the game, to creating custom "limited edition" Starfield PS5s, and even modding in the PlayStation Studios intro, some users have seemingly taken Bethesda's Xbox exclusivity hard. Players can use the PS5's DualSense controller to play Starfield quite easily, of course, since the game is on PC and the DualSense is a fully supported gamepad there . Redditor aqkj questioned a Facebook advert showing a Starfield player using the PS5 controller before many fans commented they'd be doing the exact same with the PC version. Ironically, upon the early access launch of Starfield on September 1, some users did have trouble getting their PS5 controller to work with the game, though this has an easy fix of downloading the DualSense app. Blarzek on Reddit took the em

Starfield Xbox Players Are Using Cross-Platform Saves to Gain Access to PC Console Commands

One of the best things about playing Starfield on PC is the access to console commands. In Starfield, cheat codes are enabled via console commands, but they only work on the PC version of the game. These cheat codes let you do everything from spawning any item in the game to toggle god mode. Check out IGN’s Starfield console commands guide for a comprehensive rundown of how the cheats work. Xbox Series X and S owners, however, do not have access to console commands. But players have discovered a workaround that, while limited, does let console players get in on some of the cheating action. If you own Starfield on Xbox or Xbox Game Pass, you can download it on any PC for free via the Xbox App. Even if your PC is a potato ( Starfield and potatoes is an actual thing ), just run the game using the same Microsoft account so that your save files from Xbox are transferred across. Then get stuck in to the console commands. Thanks to Microsoft’s cross-platform save system, the next time
