Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Logo Seemingly Leaked by Doritos Bag

Image
A Doritos bag may have leaked the logo and name for the next Call of Duty, revealing that this new entry will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As reported by ModernWarzone.com, TheGamingRevolution received a DM that showcases the new Double XP promotion for what could be 2020's Call of Duty game that we have yet to hear about. Furthermore, it states that the promotion will begin on October 5, 2020, possibly hinting that Black Ops Cold War could be released in late October, that is if last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is any indication. Modern Warfare had a similar Double XP promotion that began on October 1, 2019, and the game was officially released on October 25, 2019. While there has yet to be any confirmation for 2020's Call of Duty, there have been reports that Black Ops Cold War is in-fact the name. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/20/reports-call-of-duty-2020-is-called-black-ops-cold-war"] Additionally, there have been...

Xbox Games Showcase: What Worked and What Didn't

Last month, after a strong PlayStation 5 reveal from Sony, I said there was “more riding on [the] July showcase than there’s ever been for another event in the entire history of the Xbox.” Now that the Xbox Games Showcase is complete , it’s time to evaluate how Microsoft did. Rather than give it a traditional review, I thought it’d be more constructive to highlight the games and moments that worked as well as the ones that didn’t. What Worked Fable : The rumors were all true, and Playground’s Fable was introduced exactly how this longtime Fable fan was hoping it would be: with a clear indication that the new second team at the incredibly talented Forza Horizon studio would preserve the charm and humor that made Lionhead’s series so delightful in the first place. The reboot’s debut cinematic trailer, short as it was, hit all the right notes. It seems to have left Fable 3’s steampunk setting behind (series co-creator Peter Molyneux said he regrets the time jump) and returned to it...

Netflix's The Dragon Prince Renewed for Four More Seasons!

Image
Dragon Prince fans, rejoice! Netflix has given the creative team at Wonderstorm the greenlight to produce four more seasons of the animated epic, which will allow the series to complete its saga at the end of Season 7. "We feel amazingly grateful to the fans and community," co-creator Aaron Ehasz told fans during The Dragon Prince Comic-Con@Home panel. Back in 2019, Ehasz and fellow co-creator Justin Richmond laid out their seven-season plan for The Dragon Prince to a crowd of eager fans at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, with Seasons 4, 5, 6, and 7 a go at Netflix, fans can rest assured knowing they're going to get a complete story. While no release date for Season 4 (Book 4) has been revealed, the title of the upcoming season will be called "Earth." For a look at how the cast and crew reacted to the exciting Season 4 (and beyond!) renewal announcement, watch the heartwarming clip from their panel below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/24/netf...

How Ghost of Tsushima's Open World Changed During Development

Ghost of Tsushima’s open-world island offers an expansive, varied landscape, from its wintery north to the Golden Forest to seaside cliffs and more. Balancing forests and more open fields became a key component of Ghost of Tsushima’s design, but the world didn’t always start out that way. Speaking to IGN on an episode of our PlayStation show, Podcast Beyond! Creative Director and Art Director Jason Connell explained how, during its development, Ghost’s titular island featured a lot more forestation.  Watch the Podcast Beyond! episode below. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/24/ghost-of-tsushima-creative-director-interview-podcast-beyond-episode-658"] “When we had the game built for the first, maybe, two years, it was a lot of forests,” Connell said. “It was a ton of trees and...you always felt like you were in this claustrophobic tunnel. [It was] beautiful, but really deep, forestation, which does a couple of things. “It is very cool, but it makes it hard to ...

Halo Infinite Multiplayer Is Not Delayed, Devs Say

Following rumors that Halo Infinite's multiplayer would not be ready by its launch in Holiday 2020, 343 Industries has spoken up and said that is not true. Brian Jarrard, Halo's community director at 343 Industries, took to Twitter to clear up any confusion that Halo Infinite's multiplayer was delayed, saying "nothing to see here folks, this is not true." This rumor followed the gameplay reveal of Halo Infinite's campaign during the Xbox Games Showcase. 343 did not show any multiplayer and said that reveal would be coming at a later date, which is when the rumors began. Suikoden Creators Announce Spiritual Successor, Eiyuden Chronicle

Key members of the develoment team behind cult classic RPG series Suikoden have announced a Kickstarter for a spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Eiyuden Chronicle will take the form of a JRPG with a 2.5D visual style, 100 heroes to recruit (all rendered in pixel-art form), and a 'fortress building system' underpinning the story. As you might expect, it's drawing heavily on the style that won Suikoden its fans in the first place, but with a few modern twists. Battles will be turn-based with parties of six characters, and boss battles will see the camera angle shift based on the environment - which you can see in a short teaser below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/24/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes-gameplay-teaser"] Eiyuden Chronicle's story will be written by Suikoden 1 and 2 writer Yoshitaka Murayama, with character design, system design, and direction all handled by other ex-Suikoden team members. Crash Bandicoot 4 Could Be the Sequel the Trilogy Deserves

Image
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is canonically set after the events of the third game, Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Despite the  slew of main series Crash games  that have come out since then, it arrives nearly 12 years later. Knowing that, the subtitle “It’s About Time” makes perfect sense. I grew up playing the original trilogy and enjoyed my nostalgic romp through the remaster. It was fun (and frustrating) to retread those familiar levels again with a fresh coat of paint, but it was a reminder of how far games have come since then. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/24/crash-bandicoot-4-its-about-time-preview"] I didn’t expect the N. Sane Trilogy to push the series forward, but it did raise the question: What would a contemporary Crash Bandicoot game look like? After my hands-on time, it looks like Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time might strike all the right chords. It has all the familiar markings of the first three games: linear level design that demands p...

Hyper Scape Review

I first fell in love with battle royale games at the launch of H1Z1 in 2015 and have been fascinated by watching good ideas evolve the genre and bad ones flame out ever since. Enter Hyper Scape, currently in open beta – which, for a free-to-play game, translates into “it’s out.” Ubisoft claims this is the “future of battle royale” and, with its flashy sci-fi setting and urban environments, it certainly looks the part. But in the present, it’s overstuffed: in trying to differentiate itself, Hyper Scape adds loads of unique gameplay mechanics, but none of these twists really stick out as outstanding improvements. The poorly balanced result is instead full of frustrating gun fights and a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes the genre fun. On the surface, Hyper Scape’s 99-player battle royale currently sticks to the last-man-or-team-standing formula with just two game modes: solos and three-player squads. The map, however, breaks the mold by being a polished cityscape that’s what I ...

Halo Infinite's Planned Public Beta Testing May Not Happen

Halo Infinite's planned public flighting program may be reduced in scope, or not happen at all due to the "unprecedented challenges" to development this year. When announced in 2018, developer 343 Industries said it intended to run an "early flighting program" for Infinite, in a similar way to how the community has been able to test early versions of updates to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In an update posted to the Halo Waypoint blog , Halo Infinite Studio Head Chris Lee noted that the beta program for Halo Infinite has been changed as the studio reacts to current circumstances. "With Halo Infinite, we are also committed to building the game in partnership with our community but given the unprecedented challenges of this year, we’re not quite where we expected to be in terms of broader public flighting," Lee's statement reads. "While not the full program we had envisioned, we have been working very closely with the community on nearly e...

Halo Infinite Demo Was a Work-in-Progress Build, But Running on a PC as Powerful as Series X

The Halo Infinite demo debuted during last night's Xbox Games Showcase was a work-in-progress build, running on a PC with equivalent specs to the Xbox Series X. In an interview with Inside Gaming , Xbox Marketing GM Aaron Greenberg responded to criticism about Infinite's graphics, saying: "Listen, we're in the middle of a global pandemic. It's July, we're far from [launch in] Holiday, you're seeing a work-in-progress game." He continued by saying that the stream itself may be part of the response: "It's very hard to show the full power and graphical fidelity of what Xbox Series X will be able to deliver for you over a stream. Go back and look at it in 4K 60," referring to the fact that the stream was delivered live in 1080p, but the gameplay premiere can be viewed in 4K 60 FPS on the Halo YouTube channel. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/23/halo-infinite-9-minutes-of-campaign-gameplay"] That said, many have poi...

FIFA 21 Is Finally Making Career Mode Changes

Image
FIFA 21 is seemingly making major additions to its Career mode, following years of criticism about a lack of meaningful changes. Announced on the FIFA 21 website , EA Sports has highlighted 8 key changes and additions to the long-static mode, most of which seem to add more emphasis to the management side of the game. [caption id="attachment_2384153" align="alignnone" width="900"] The new Interactive Match Sim view.[/caption] Interactive Match Sim (Screenshot above) - The biggest change mentioned so far, this looks to be a stripped back management experience in the vein of Football Manager. You'll be able to jump in and out of matches - to take penalties or free kicks, for example - while using the management view to make tactical changes as the game progresses. Revamped Growth System - On a more micro level, this will let you take a more active view of your players' development in training, and allow you to train players in new positions, for ...
