Silent Hill: Ascension Will Seemingly Premiere on Halloween, According to Google Play Listing

If you want to get in on the beginning of Silent Hill: Ascension, you might want to clear your Halloween plans.

A Google Play listing for Ascension, a new interactive streaming series, has it premiering on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. PDT/9 p.m. EST. It’s available for pre-register now.

When reached by IGN, Genvid Entertainment, which is producing the series, could not officially confirm, but said that more information would be coming soon.

Announced back in October 2022, Silent Hill: Ascension is a choose-your-own-adventure mini-series where the stream’s chat will collectively come to decisions that “impact the canon of Silent Hill,” today’s listing says. It will feature daily live story scenes that will change based on the audience’s decisions, and the listing notes that you’ll be able to catch up on-demand on each installment.

The whole project has been pretty mysterious thus far, with Genvid CEO Jacob Navok shedding a bit more light on it in a recent interview with Polygon. At the time, he said that, while comparisons have been made to Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Genvid’s streaming series are basically “crowd-control decision making.”

If you’re concerned about not being able to make it to each livestream, Navok said “many” of the decisions are made in advance. “But if you are there, you’re going to see the outcomes of the audience decisions in real time, but you’re also going to play,” he said.

Navok said viewers will be able to stream it on Ascension.com, but they’re “also going to have apps and console builds; you can basically access it anywhere that Netflix gets access.”

According to the listing, Silent Hill: Ascension “follows multiple main characters from locations around the world tormented by new and terrifying SILENT HILL monsters.”

“Lurking in the shadows, these monsters threaten to consume people, their children, and entire towns as they're drawn into the darkness by both recent murders and long-suppressed guilt and fears,” it continues.

It’s a collaboration between Konami, Genvid Entertainment, JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Games, and Behaviour Interactive.

It’s only one of a few Silent Hill projects in the works, including a remake of Silent Hill 2, two spinoffs, and a new movie.
