Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 Arrives on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch in Summer 2022

The 2004 hit RPG Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II is getting an updated re-release this summer. The game, from Publisher Interplay Entertainment and developer Black Isle Studios, will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

The game will not be a remake, but it will feature enhanced graphics and up to 4K resolution on supported platforms. If you want to play with friends, you’ll be able to play co-op locally across all versions.

On the Steam version, you’ll also be able to use Remote Play for a long-distance cooperative experience. And yes, it’s fully verified on the Steam Deck for an on-the-go, handheld RPG experience.

The original game was released in 2004 on PS2 and Xbox, three years after the first. In our review we gave it an 8.4 out of 10. We said “this game is easy to pick up, easy to play, and a great excuse for wading through legions of monsters by yourself or with a friend.”

This updated version, like the original, will include five playable characters and classes to play across 80 levels. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II also features a fully voice acted cast and four difficulty levels.

Last May, developer Black Isle Studios said a rerelease was on the table after the success of the surprise release of an enhanced version of the first game, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

At this time, there is no word on a release date other than sometime this summer. Be sure to check out the new trailer and get all those nostalgic feels.
