Opinion: The PS5 Reveal Has Put All the Pressure Back on Microsoft

Sony went all-in with this week’s PlayStation 5 Reveal event, choosing to push all of its chips into the center of the table on one hand rather than make more frequent smaller bets, as Microsoft has (mostly successfully) done so far. But, perhaps knowing it had a great hand – it certainly helps that you’re the market leader by a sales factor of two over your competitors, meaning you have a much higher margin for error – it waited. And when the time finally came, Sony played its hand beautifully – it was also the most-watched gaming stream in YouTube’s history – erasing much of Microsoft’s hard-earned Xbox Series X momentum in one fell swoop. So the question for Team Xbox becomes, “Now what?” Winning the price battle would be a good start. Activision Blizzard Charged $35 Million By the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

Activision Blizzard has been charged $35 million by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for "failing to maintain disclosure controls related to complaints of workplace misconduct and violating whistleblower protection rule." The SEC shared the news in a press release, stating Activision Blizzard agreed to pay the $35 million to settle its violations, and the charges stemmed from issues dating back to 2016. "According to the SEC’s order, between 2018 and 2021, Activision Blizzard was aware that its ability to attract, retain, and motivate employees was a particularly important risk in its business, but it lacked controls and procedures among its separate business units to collect and analyze employee complaints of workplace misconduct," The SEC wrote. New Pokemon Snap Gameplay Reveals New Features

Gameplay of New Pokemon Snap has revealed new features, including tools, photo editing, and more. Shown during today's Pokemon Presents broadcast, the gameplay showed off the game's photo editing mode, which will allow you to alter, decorate and share your snaps. Photos can  rated by other players online, and even featured by the developers. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/26/new-pokemon-snap-official-gameplay-trailer"] AI scoring for shots was shown to be rated on Pose, Size, Direction, Placement, Other Pokemon, and Background, awarding both a points score and a star rating. Photos will seemingly also be used to fill a Pokemon Photodex. There are also new tools in the shape of Illumina Orbs, items that can make Pokemon glow, and change their elemental effects – presumably for higher photo scores. We also see fruits being thrown, and melodies being played to elicit new gestures from Pokemon. The story of the game isn't totally clear, but we see the mythical Pokemon Celebi swoop by at the end of the new trailer. New Pokemon Snap will be released on April 30.
