Capcom's Huge Leak Has Had 'No Significant Impact' on the Games It Plans to Release

Capcom has said that recent leaks tied to a cyber attack have had "no significant impact" on title releases and that development work has "largely returned to normal." The news was revealed as part of Capcom's Fiscal Year 2020 3rd Quarter earnings presentation. In the Question and Answer summary, the studio responded to a question about the impact of the data security incident the company suffered back in November of 2020, which leaked a number of games and their release windows, including Dragons Dogma 2 and Street Fighter 6. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/21/resident-evil-village-story-trailer"] "There has been no significant impact at this point, and development work has largely returned to normal," the answer reads. This suggests that the leak has not had any impact on Capcom's current game development plans and that the studio is proceeding as normal. Capcom issued a statement in January noting that 16.415 people had their personal details stolen in the hack and that the company had lost "Sales reports, financial information, game development documents, other information related to business partners." We reported back in November that former Capcom employees feared for their private data in the wake of the ransomware attack. In other Capcom news, Resident Evil Village's Art Director recently unravelled the mystery of Lady Dimitrescu's height. Leaks for Resident Evil Village are now out in the wild and circulating, so watch out for spoilers if you're anticipating the game. Resident Evil Village will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 7, 2021. Jordan Oloman Is A Freelance Writer for IGN. Follow him on Twitter.
