Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 Arrives on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch in Summer 2022

-
The 2004 hit RPG Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II is getting an updated re-release this summer. The game, from Publisher Interplay Entertainment and developer Black Isle Studios, will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. The game will not be a remake, but it will feature enhanced graphics and up to 4K resolution on supported platforms. If you want to play with friends, you’ll be able to play co-op locally across all versions. On the Steam version, you’ll also be able to use Remote Play for a long-distance cooperative experience. And yes, it’s fully verified on the Steam Deck for an on-the-go, handheld RPG experience. The original game was released in 2004 on PS2 and Xbox, three years after the first. In our review we gave it an 8.4 out of 10. We said “this game is easy to pick up, easy to play, and a great excuse for wading through legions of monsters by yourself or with a friend.” This updated version, like the original, will inc...

Flashback 2 Hands-On: Move Over, Monkey Island! Another 30+ Year-Old Game is Finally Getting a Sequel

-
I don’t know if there’s something in the water causing developers to dust off franchises that were around when I was still in diapers and start developing sequels, but if last year’s Return to Monkey Island is anything to go by, I’m thankful for whatever mysterious powers are at work. And just like Ron Gilbert’s return to the helm of his old brainchild, Paul Cuisset, creator of the original Flashback, has also come back to head up the upcoming sequel to a retro classic. From the hour-long section I was able to play, it’s shocking just how much Flashback 2 seems like it will stick to its roots. That comes with all the potential pros and cons you might imagine. If you never played 1992’s Flashback, or any of the re-releases or remasters since, it’s a retro platformer and adventure game where you jump and roll around, solve puzzles, and shoot mutants in a dystopian cyberpunk future. Despite a pretty enormous 30-year gap, this sequel very much follows in the footsteps of its predecessor...

Get The Legend of Zelda Nintendo Game and Watch Ahead of the Holidays

-
If you missed out on Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda Edition preorders, it's not too late. You can still get your hands on this absolutely delightful collectible from Nintendo, for yourself or as a gift for the holidays. In my Game & Watch: Legend of Zelda review , I pretty much gush over it the entire time. It's exactly the sort of collectible that appeals to me: it's not terribly expensive, it has cool and interesting features, and it just feels like a loving tribute rather than a cheap cash grab. Preorder the Nintendo Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda Edition As stated in the product description, the Nintendo Game & Watch Legend of Zelda edition includes the first two NES games, the Game Boy version of Link's Awakening, and a reimagined version of Vermin starring Link. You can also play "the English or Japanese versions" of the included games. There are some notable musical differences between the Japanese and English versi...

Nintendo eShop Down, Seemingly Due to Monster Hunter Rise Demo Demand

-
The Nintendo eShop is currently down for unscheduled "emergency maintenance", which may be due to demand for the recently released Monster Hunter Rise demo. The eShop has been down for at least 4 hours at time of writing, with Nintendo's Japanese customer support Twitter account repeatedly apologising for the issues, but offering no timescale for a fix. While neither Nintendo or Capcom has specifically commented on the connection, the outage coincides with the release of the demo for Monster Hunter Rise, which includes two quests and two tutorials for the upcoming Switch exclusive.
