Halo Infinite Is Getting Match and Performance-Based XP Rewards Next Week And Here's How It Will Work

One of the most controversial parts of Halo Infinite has been its approach to progression, as originally it would only reward players with XP for completing challenges and not for how they performed in a match. This is all about to change as Halo Infinite's Winter Update will add match and performance-based XP when it is released on November 8. As detailed on Halo Waypoint, the Match XP Beta is part of 343 Industries' mission to address player feedback in regard to progression. With Match XP, "players will be rewarded for playing whatever mode they want, and your performance in those matches will tie into those rewards." Furthermore, the "majority of XP" will come from Match XP as opposed to Challenges. Lonely Mountains: Downhill Reveals New Eldjfall Island DLC

Serene, infuriating, excellent cycling game Lonely Mountains: Downhill has announced a new DLC mountain, Eldjfall Island, as well as new daily challenges and an intriguing 'ASMR soundtrack'. Shown off on IGN's Gamescom show today, Eldjfall Island is 'coming soon', and will be the largest mountain in the game so far. It will feature 4 new trails, with new challeneges and resting spots, and include unique new effects like thunderstorms and volcanic eruptions. You'll also be able to earn new cosmetic items, including Viking-themed gear. 35-Player Version of Original Super Mario Bros. Revealed

Super Mario Bros. 35 has been announced for Nintendo Switch, which takes the form of a battle royale-like competitive version of the original Super Mario Bros., featuring 35 players. It's out on October 1. Announced in today's Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct, this "online battle game" has you playing simultaneously with 34 other players, with enemies defeated being sent to other players' games. It's reminiscent of Switch's Tetris 99, and will come exclusively to subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online service, and will only be available to download until March 31, 2021.
