The unconfirmed trailer appeared on X/Twitter early Monday afternoon and quickly spread like wildfire around the Internet. Veteran UK developer Codemasters has suffered a round of layoffs following the launch of racing games F1 23 and EA Sports WRC . Codemasters owner EA confirmed the redundancies in a statement issued to IGN, although failed to disclose the number of staff affected. “Our business is constantly changing as we strive to deliver amazing games and services that keep our players engaged, connected, and inspired,” an EA spokesperson said. “At times, this requires the company to make small-scale organizational changes that align our teams and resources to meet evolving business needs and priorities. Cyberpunk 2077 will receive its "last big update" tomorrow, December 5, 2023, as developer CD Projekt Red turns its attention towards the sequel, codenamed Orion, and the next mainline Witcher game, codenamed Polaris. Speaking to IGN, CD Projekt Red confirmed Update 2.1, which arrives alongside the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition , is the final major update for the three year-old game. CD Projekt Red, as well as ramping up development for i ts next mainline Witcher game, codenamed Polaris , is switching focus to the full Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. A post on X/Twitter from global community director Marcin Momot first implied this was the case, saying CD Projekt Red had "one more patch for Cyberpunk 2077" up its sleeve. Mortal Kombat 1 development chief Ed Boon has confirmed plans to continue the story of the game and teased further surprises. Speaking at the CCXP23 event in Brazil, Boon announced what sounds very much like an Aftermath-style expansion for Mortal Kombat 1, but stopped short of revealing any details. “Just like we did with MK11, we’re going to release a second part with more story and we have a big surprise after that,” Boon said. Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath story expansion launched just over a year after the game itself, and included an additional story mode, new characters, new stages, stage Fatalities, and the Friendship finisher. It seems reasonable to assume Mortal Kombat 1 will get similar content as part of the continuation of its story. But this “big surprise” Boon teased is anyone’s guess.
